Speaking of which, is XXAC worth it? I've considered it, I've always loved Guilty Gear's graphics, but I held out for SSBB for it's online play. Also, as a fan of Guilty Gear, you think they'll be releasing one for Wii, with online play, anytime soon?

      Re: Zero Punctuation

Well, Accent Core is the latest refinement of Guilty Gear XX. Plot-wise, it really didn't add much. It basically added new Special moves that consume 25% Tension ("Force Breaks"), and a parry move (Slashback; no, it doesn't make the game anything like 3rd Strike, because using Slashback is even harder then deliberately using Perfect Shielding in Smash.) Also, the character arts and announcer voice got changed. It basically refined gameplay further.

If you don't have any recent Guilty Gear game, go for it. There's a Wii port that is compatible with the Classic Controller and GC controller if I'm not mistaken, but I highly doubt it's got online play.

Guilty Gear 2 comes out on September 30, as well, according to Wikipedia. It's not really a fighting game, though, but at least it finally continues the plot (I mean, hell, GGXX has had 4 revisions.)

Wow, 3D graphics? That pretty much entirely eliminates my interest in the game.

I know the Wii version doesn't have online play, which is unfortunate. Really, though, the entire reason I was interested in it was the fact that it still used sprites. Without that, I have no interest.

Say what you want but I still hate how unresponsive the game is and it bugs the crap out of me every time I want to use a normal hit as part of a combo instead of just smashing.

          1) It'd be nice if I could disable doing smashes when I tilt the stick and instead have a button. Can't do that with the Wii Mote though.

          2) Really, really hate it when I'm swinging in one direction and then when I react to it by attacking in the other, my character keeps hitting in the previous direction until I stop and leave myself open. Sorry, but you don't have to deal with that kind of crap in Street Fighter.

And I agree that MvC2 was broken. It's all part of Capcom's philosophy of making everyone broken so that it sort of offsets each character.

Again, that's you, not the game.

Yes you can. Armando has explained how three or four times.

I'm not familiar with the more detailed smash mechanics, but I doubt you're very accurate about the second part either.

There is no C-stick on the remote, only the Game Cube and Classic Controllers.

I'm not calling Brawl a bad game ('cause it's not) just over hyped like most of Nintendo's stuff.

That's why I love games like Zone of the Enders and Steet Fighter Alpha 3 that can actually handle fast inputs.

The first time I booted up SSBB and jumped into the gameplay holding the Wii-mote, I was almost scared I might not enjoy SSBB. Then I looked over at my GameCube controller sitting there asking me to plug-er-in. After I did, it was like Melee again, but 100x more WIN.

Griping about controls as a reason for a game sucking is only valid if you are stuck with the predefined controls the designers programmed. Not only does Brawl let you alter the default controls, it lets you choose from between 4 different controller types altogether.

It's not a fault in the game's design if you can't adapt to any of those.
That's all you have to do if you insist on not using the Classic Controller.

Eh I can try it that way, but then smashes will become annoying to do...

Annoying? They're easy to do considering you even accidentally get them when going for tilts. Besides, the trade-off isn't even - using the C-Stick/D-Pad facilitates doing tilts far more than using the Analog Stick for Smashes becomes more annoying.

Back in the Melee days you'd have to learn to control your thumb. Which wasn't that hard at all, especially in comparison to techniques like wavedashing.
