For those curious, it's a cross platform release- at least 360 and Wii.

And yeah, this looks like it could be the best Sonic game since Dreamcast.

We're all well aware of why Sonic games haven't been "fun" since Sonic's Adventure 2.

Honestly though, my favorite Sonic levels are the ones where you're running as fast as possible and only have a split second to decide a route / evade an enemy.

This platforming nonsense is better suited for Mario...

tsr: well, two things. First of all, this video seems pretty low in frame rate, to me at least, so it's probably easier to keep track of actual gameplay. Two, a lot of those things (like the loops and such) are things that are mostly uncontrollable, so a bit of camera flair doesn't really hurt things (Sonic Adventure and SA2 both did this with very little problems; although their camera had flaws in other places)

You guys must have been asleep the last ten years, most of the best sonic games in the last several years have appeared on Game Boy Advance or Sonic Rush on DS.

Some ideas just don't work entirely well in full next-gen 3D, the sooner Sega realizes that, the sooner Sonic's suckage will end on consoles.

This game doesn't look particularly good, and for the same reason that Sonic Rush and Sonic Rivals are pretty damn overrated.

A good Sonic game isn't about the sense of blind speed. What made Sonic 1, 2, 3, CD and Sonic & Knuckles great (Sonic 1 being the best with this by far) is the fantastic level design. Despite running really fast, you have to choose your path properly and move with caution. This looks barely playable in comparison, as if the player is simply holding down forward on the d-pad and closing his or her eyes. In the originals, a running loop would have some obstacles on or around it. Nowadays it seems Sonic fans are pleased whenever they get to watch Sonic run on a very basic loop. Simplistic level design happened at times in the classics, sure, but not to the degree of this or in Sonic Rush and Sonic Rivals.

A sidescrolling Sonic for consoles is a very good thing, but this brief glimpse at the new project (which, given its similarity to Rush, is probably not even developed by Sonic team) doesn't yet herald a return to the perfect Sonic formula that was strongest with the very first game. Granted, there's still every chance for Sega to change my mind because we've only seen a few seconds of leaked footage. However, Sega's not the type of studio to make situations better. I really hope they prove me wrong.

Also, the were-hedgehog thing is freakin' stupid. Samus, The Prince of Persia, and Link want their already shitty gimmick back.

Correction: The Prince of Persia only. He gets angsty-DMC rage when his games don't sell. When Samus or Link get something like that, its a seldom-used gameplay mechanic.

I played them all into oblivion... I think this statement bears repeating >.>

The final battle (and, come to think of it, all of the boss battles in general) in Two Thrones was one of the most satisfying boss battles I've ever completed, and you're talking to a guy who's played through 90% of a number of the FF single-player games, where boss battles are noted for the hugeness.

What's funny is that Bioware will likely be able to make a half-decent RPG using nearly all of Sonic's Shitty Friends.
