Ok I couldn't wait. LOL As soon as I saw it I had to d/l it and try it.........well after 2 days I'm addicted! This is one of the best handheld games I have every played!! Ok ok I am a bit biased because I'm a big FF fan but I think even someone that hasn't played FF7 would enjoy it too. You will enjoy the characters not only because you know them but because the story is well done. The battle system is a mix of hack and slash with a splash of magic and topped off with a crazy slot machine. (About the only thing I'm iffy on is the DMW) Of course the CG by SE is usually top of the line and for a handheld it is stunning. It's been a while since a handheld game has drawn me in so much. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I think of is my PSP and when I'll be able to grab some time to play it. That's one way of knowing that this game is definately worth my time.

Before anyone jumps on me (*coughPaicough*) I own the JP version AND I have the U.S. version pre-ordered. I just saw it and couldn't wait to try it. I'm "demo'ing" it!

It hits stores next Tuesday right? I put $5 down on a pre-order when I bought my PSP, but unfortunately I wont be in to pick it up until Wednesday.

Is what you downloaded in English?

Yes, sir Tuesday is the day! I ordered mine online so it probably won't arrive until Wednesday or Thursday. But I'm all set until then so its all good. And yes, it is in English. I'm not too fond of English voice acting for the most part (love games with subs and original JP voice options), but its not too dang shabby. At least its not annoying like in Lost Odyssey! I put on the English voice acting option for 2 hours and had a headache afterwards. >< Next session I put it back to JP. LOL

How are the voices? The trailers I saw of the recording at Gametrailers.com, well, lets say Zack doesn't sound good at all.

I'm VERY worried about the voices. Although I'd probably ball my eyes out at the ending anyway but ...

I'm hoping they allow you to keep the original Japanese voice acting and just use English subtitles.

By the by, my copy has been paid for and ordered in advance since December, and should be available in-store for me on Wednesday.

I really miss the days you had to read diologue, just for the fact that anime whores couldn't bitch about the english dub.

UMD isn't a terribly practical format for dual languages.

BTW, there are bad japanese actors, too, you know. I knew a OTB JP chick that wanted to slit her wrists over the JP dub of FFX. She liked the English dub better, surprisingly Just because its in a foreign language doesn't mean the acting isn't bad, it works both ways.

Personally, I'm more interested in the GAME, anyway, people who play RPGs only for story deserve the pain they get.

Very true. It just seems 'less' bad, because for someone with no grasp of Japanese, we can't tell where the inflections/emotion is being done OTT or in a cheesy manner. So we're more like... innocently oblivious of the suck.

:3 and I only play RPGs for the story. I've found no pain yet. Well, I take that back, so much lost potential in KotOR 2, but I've opened enough veins over that already....

If it's funny (the way the English Actor does it) it'll ruin my sadness and I'll make it into a huge joke.

I'm a sucker for tragic stories. I really am. Hence I'm patiently waiting for my PSP to come so I can play the game.

I find that English voices are more high pitched than JP voices (for the most part but of course not all) so I think thats why I enjoy the JP voices more. In Lost Odyssey, there are 2 little annoying brats and a few women with voices that remind of nails on a chalkboard when you listen to them in English. LOL I really love Kaim's voice in the JP track, the English is ok though.

The English voices in FF7:CC are ok so far though and I'm glad. Sorry Icemage but I don't think they give you that option. Now it could be taken out of this copy but the d/l was over a gig so I'm thinking that they didn't trim it.

I am looking at the in game options right now and there are Items, Equipment, Materia, Materia Fusion, DMW, Missions, Mail, and Shops. So no Config option with sound levels or options to change the voice acting.

Edit: Just to make it clear, it is in fact, my PsP that is having them, and not me.

I think with the exception of Kingdom Hearts I and II, I can never be forced to play a bad game for a good story. Were it not for the fact that Chain of Memories actually had a game in it, I probably wouldn't have followed through to KHII.

I also miss the days when only had to read text in japanese RPGs instead of hearing voices. The complete incompetence in english dubbing has made me mute the sound way too many times already.

But hey if what you say is true you at least found someone who didn't like the original language, and if that's the case I'm sure there are plenty of people in the US who like the dubbed versions of Hollywood movies more as well.

I'm thinking about getting a PSP very soon for both Crisis core and Wipeout, but I'd rather import the japanese game if I can.

Are PSP games region locked too?

No sir. I play my JP Crisis Core on my US PSP. (I have a JP FF7 10th Anniversary Slim PSP but its safely packed away.) But this does not apply for UMD movies. Those are region encoded.
