Re: Thumbs up to Crisis Core!

I also miss the days when only had to read text in japanese RPGs instead of hearing voices. The complete incompetence in english dubbing has made me mute the sound way too many times already
I was more referring to the fact that if there were no voice at all, there would be no inane bitching about voice on the internet, as though its the most important part of a game.

    Here's an idea, kids, you become an actor and then you can get your work dissected on the internet by some jackass living in his parent's basement >.>;

Have you played a KOEI game like Dynasty Warriors lately? :p I think even a criticism from a kid in a basement would strike home for those.

That said, not all English dubs are bad. Every once in a while you get a decent English translation and voice acting (the aforementioned Kingdom Hearts games come to mind obviously, where the English version is - for obvious reasons - better than the "original" Japanese).

The Japanese voice acting in Crisis Core seems pretty good, from what I've seen of the cinematics and trailers online, which is why I mentioned it would have been a nice feature to have. I've become a big fan of keeping original audio whenever possible as long as text is still readable (this is particularly true for movie/TV content).

Awesome, I think I'm gonna try to import then.

Voice is very important, and proof of that is how much it affects you when people doesn't like dubbing. If it really was just inane bitching then you wouldn't bother with it.

Now, you can't get a away that easily with the "then do it yourself" card on that one, people involved in acting will always have their work examined in one way or the other, specially if it is that bad. Their entire bussiness revolves around people's opinion of their work, so expecting people not to "dissect" it is a bit... naive to say it politely.

Jackasses living in their parent's basements or anyone else will complain about bad acting, specially so if they are paying costumers, so you better get used to it for you own sanity's sake.

I just want to clarify that most of the times you hear people complaining about dubbing it rarely has to do with the actual language you are making the translation to, and everything to do with how much it distorts the original material. English dubbing isn't worse than any other language dubbing really (even though there are languages that translate better than others.)

For instance Spanish dubbing is pretty compatible with japanese because both languages have a lot in common in terms of pronunciation, but that still doesn't make it suck less when compared to the original. That's why I always mention Hollywood movies when this topic comes out, if you watch a US movie translated to Japanese the dubbing will most likely suck too.

Problem is people always tries to make it a battle of Japanese language VS English language, when it's in fact an Original Version VS Translated Version kinda thing. XD

Although it is also true there are a few exceptions where dubbing is better than the original. They are few and far between but it happens. d(^-^d)

America only has a dozen or so voice actors in her repetoir. I'm currently tired of hearing every single one of them.

Ok, I made it to a CG fight scene with Sephiroth and it made buying the game worth the price for me! I saved right before it and I will not save over that save ever! I have to say that the voice acting for Genesis isn't too shabby.

Still waiting for my copy of Crisis Core in the mail but I did get the guide yesterday. (I am a collector and usually buy the matching guide.) If you are a huge Zack fan, you might want to invest in the guide. There is a sweet poster in the back of Zack. (Or snag a friends poster which is what I'm going to do because I keep my guides as collectibles so the poster stays in.)

Leveling up materia and materia fusion are nice touches in the game. I'm really enjoying doing missions and getting more materia and then leveling/fusing it. I don't have the time to play CC as much as I would like to unfortunately. But, then again, maybe its a good thing I can't because I don't want to whiz through it and finish it. I'm actually not looking forward to finishing it....I hate finishing a game I'm really enjoying!

Hope you all are enjoying CC as much as I am! Let's hear what you think, good or bad.

In all fairness, one would likely assume that anyone playing Crisis Core has played FFVII before or knows the story. But still...oh I dunno. Spoiler it I guess.

Re: Thumbs up to Crisis Core!

Isn't CC really nothing more than an excessive embellishment of Last Order: Final Fantasy VII, which is just an embellishment of the Nibelheim flashback?

They actually had that old OVA as a part of Advent Children's release in Japan, but count out good ol' Sony to cut it out of the stateside release.

Because everyone plays Dynasty Warriors for story and historical accuracy. The voiceovers there are an afterthought because they've hacked it up and repeated it so many times that nobody cares.

Anyway, I'll just say trust me when I say I didn't ruin it for you. There's so much more to the ending than that. There's also so much more to the game than what Last Order shows (and Last Order had so many inconsistencies that Crisis Core fixes), it also shows how awesome Zack is as a character, and his relationship with Angeal and Aerith as well as the story behind Genesis.

IN NOVEMBER THERE WILL BE A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN THE UNITED STATES.

I mean, everybody already knew that, and it's not really the important part, but I enjoy watching you squirm.
