I'm definitely planning on being an early adopter for squares next MMO...

Even though I've leveled everything I want to be leveling -- starting to play in '07 felt like I came in too late. I know it's not like FFXI is dying... just feel like I don't have the time to do what I want, especially with my schedule. Anyone else feel the same way? The one thing I hope is that the character models are similar.

You don't feel like you have enough time to do everything in this MMO...so you want another MMO to play from the same people?

Or is it that you're worried the game will end before you accomplish all the goals you set for yourself in it. Because if that's it, then it's something you shouldn't worry about because this game is not going anywhere for *years*.

And I hope the character concepts and designs are the same. But I hope the actual models are improved greatly.

So set more reasonable goals for yourself or realise that the game isn't going anywhere, so you have plenty of time to get the things you want. Just because you don't have them right now doesn't mean you should throw in the towel.

And how did you come by those numbers?

This game isn't going anywhere. It's on year 6 now and it's STILL the third best MMO out there behind WoW and Lineage. Other, older, MMOs are still going strong depsite having less then half of this game's user base and popularity.

FFXI will be around for YEARS, so don't expect it to just fade away any time soon.

No matter where you start, someone out there (probably from Korea/Japan) will still kick your ass. And while you sleep, they'd probably done 20+ quests and levelled up by 30+ levels.

Exactly.

When LOTRO's open beta started, we were all capped at level 15. Almost everyone was at that point, so level 15 was essentially level 1. Once the cap was removed, even though I played a lot, people still flew past me. You can't worry about things like that, as there is almost always going to be someone with more time on their hands than you.

Setting more reasonable goals is the key.

Trying to rush things that you cant handle is the right way to go if you want to quit early, due to frustration.

I've been playing for 4ish years, a bit less, and I play every other day maybe 3~5 hours like you, sometimes more, sometimes less, I take it as it comes and when the new game comes out, we'll see.

It'd be really nice if it wasn't as much of one as XI, but I hold zero hope for that, and as such, have stopped even paying attention to SE MMO news. I'd love to come back to a FF MMO, but not if it's like XI.

If it was like Pre-Nerfed SWG, now that would be fun.
