Of course it'll be a time sink, if you got to level cap in 2 weeks, done all quests, got 85% of all the best gear, why would you keep playing? (except to get the other 15%)

      I have indeed.

If my PC played nicer with LOTRO I'd be willing to give it another shot, but alas.

      Plus, I do still FFXI.

If you want to play a MMO and you like this one then stick with it. You can play as long as you want to, even if it's for like an hour a week. Sure you'll progress slower than other players but if it's the playing that counts it won't matter you're getting everywhere a little slower surely? Every MMO will be the same. When it comes down to camping things which take longer than you want to spend on a game then go for the next item down, it won't be as good surely but it won't be bad or maybe some weekends or certain times you can allow yourself more time to do those more time eating things like camping NMs.

FFXI is not going anywhere, the number of players grow all the time so I wouldn't worry about it.

It's not as fun trying to catch up to people's archivement if you start at this point. This much I can agree.

Starting MMO when it's still new is very fun. Progressing through the game at similar pace with everyone else is a feeling I really love in any MMO I played.

The next MMO i'll probably try is warhammer online. Yea yea it's such a WoW clone -.- it's game play movie art style could hardly be identify from WoW, altho the animation really suck, but well... since tons of my old friends from DAoC will be playing, I might as well give it a shot. I kinda miss DAoC's RvR.

Anyway, starting a new MMO with other ppl is fun, it doesn't have to be SE's game.

I love being apart of the hype of a new MMO coming out, and being in the game exploring things that not many people know about and seeing how the game develops over time.

FFXI was a very different game when it came out in North America, and I loved it back then. It is far different now, and just not my cup of tea (even though I had most of what I wanted in the game).

WoW was also the same. It was a very awesome game during open beta to official release -- even though the lag was horrendous, it was absolute fun and joy but I really don't enjoy how it is today. Though it hasn't changed as much as FFXI, imo (apart from balancing jobs and all that).

I would agree that it'd be hard to start fresh in FFXI now, but ya know... whatever.
