MGS4 is now the 8th game to ever score a 40/40 Perfect Score in Famitsu. Translation credits to KTallguy of NeoGAF.

An overwhelming amount of quality and volume. Thanks to a lot of great features, long time fans of the series and neophytes alike will be able to enjoy the game. Even if you’re not so great at action games, we really recommend you give this a try. Furthermore, the content in the Metal Gear Online mode is an excellent addition to the main story. A game with seemingly no weak points whatsoever.

The familiar sneaking action triumphantly returns, along with boss battles full of tricks and surprises. But even more fun is the ability to purchase and customize equipment with new abilities! The popular cutscenes are also back in huge numbers, leaving you immensely satisfied. Finally, playing the online versus mode with your buddies and linking up is just too awesome!

Within the massive amounts of cutscenes there are numerous easter eggs, mixing both the old and the new. Some parts get a little verbose and wordy, but the end is really worth it. Also, because depending on your style of play, many different gameplay elements emerge, the second straight week of play is still fun. Another great point: the Online mode’s rules and system are carried over from the single player. You’ll want to play it over and over again.

“Octo-Cam” allows players to automatically blend in, a system easy for even beginners to understand. We have no complaints about the quality of the cutscenes at all. However, many characters from the previous games appear, so if you want to get the most out of the story, you’ll need a bit of preparation. In the Online Game, modes like “Snake vs Soldiers” are truly unique to this series.

So does anyone else have the game? I made first in line at GameStop for the Midnight Launch it was so worth it - I also met an old Final Fantasy XI Player while in line what a small world. So far about 3 hours into the game and it's great just gotta get used to the controls a bit.

6:50 minutes-ish and I had to quit playing. LOL My daughter came home from work and was driving me nuts babbling at me so I couldn't concentrate. I mean the grandkids squealing is bad enough but some attention whore prattling on and on just drove me over the edge. Pisses me off too cause the surround sound and 52" 1080p is downstairs and I was in FRIGGIN HEAVEN!

Haven't picked it up yet, hell, I didn't reserve it so I doubt anyone has it right now anyway. May wait until my receiver gets back from getting repaired so I can enjoy it in surround sound. Glad to hear that it sounds as epic as I was hoping it would be.

Ya it's Battle Royale in this house over the use of the PS3. First we have my husband that is pissed off because we have a flooded basement to dry and all I want to do is play MGS4. Then my daughter is pissed off because she comes home from work and I'm planted on the PS3 and she wants to relax and watch tv. (She sleeps in the living room. >< ) Then top it off with my son wanting to play MGS4 too! This is the worst because as soon as I have to do anything around the house he grabs the controller and goes to town! Forget trying to get it away from him once he's got it. When I had to go in the basement and adjust the fans, I knew he'd make a grab for it so I took the power cord and tied it around my neck! That's right, I'm the Champion! LOL
