As you can see, there's a slight bump in the visuals since we last saw trailer footage of the game back at TGS. Meryl's hair is fixed, too!

Was messing around on MGS2 last night... stupid game, it won't let me throw E.E. into the pool of death (And up until last night I never knew about that super cheap way to beat Vamp, WOW! btw why the hell was there no dog tag left behind even though I stamina killed him? I got one off Fatman...)

I mean, I'm sure MGS4 is a quality game, but MGS games don't appeal to everyone. Having to sneak around and not being able to just kill things bugs a lot of people.

GTA4 will probably be the biggest release for far more PS3 owners than MGS4 will.

Reality check yourself.

Kojima stated that specifically you can choose to either sneak around or assist in the battle modes. No more 100% sneak around. Yes you can engage the enemy yourself and kill all of them yourself if you choose to.

You've obviously have had no experience with this version of MGS4. Neither has anyone else, so please reserve your asinine objections until after you have played the game.

- . - I just E-mailed Konami and plead my case. I don't think I'll get anything but you never know. God 1st EB screws me out of Heroes V Collector's Ed, and now this...

If not for the lack of better retailers I'd tell them to sit and spin. In fact, I'm going to start ordering online off company websites directly now. FUCK EB/Gamestop.

The final press event for MGS4 was held today in Japan in Roppongi.

Today in Japan Konami executive Fumiaki Tanaka announced that MGS4 has gone gold and is on schedule to ship on time. SCEI President and CEO Kazuo Hirai says the game will launch to massive advertising campaigns and commercial tie-ins worldwide. There are a ton of product placement tie-ins with the game, from Ga-Ko alarm clocks to Regain energy drinks to iPods to cell-phones. Vamp uses a Sony Ericcson special model cellphone. This phone will be available at Japanese retail when the game launches. Snake will also be able to wear the Altair cloak shown in the April Fool's Day video. There will be MGS4 branded t-shirts sold worldwide. The movie trailer voice over guy narrates the final English trailer.

Kojima apologized for the game taking so long. Because MGS4 is the final game in the series, he says that perfecting it posed an even larger challenge than the PS3 hardware or the shift to HD. He says he almost gave up on finishing it but knew he had to for the fans. He's concerned about the industry shift towards casual gamers but isn't upset by it. He says he doesn't want a renaissance, but a return to gaming. At the end of the event, Kojima played the first 40 minutes of the game before the audience.



MGS Mastermind Hideo Kojima apologizes for MGS4's long delay.


OPM UK gave the game a 10/10 in the first worldwide review of the game. The final version runs approximately 30 hours long and, according to the review, "answers every question and ties up every loose end since METAL GEAR first brought espionage gameplay to the world in 1987." The reviewer calls the game Kojima's masterpiece and the highest point of the franchise.



Product tie-ins galore. A commercial at the event showed Old Snake drinking a Regain Energy drink and becoming young again.


Also, apparently if you equip yourself with every SOP upgrade possible, Snake will be in danger of suffering a hernia. Snake has an iPod; you can pick up CDs in the game Smash Bros.-style and listen to the music you collect while playing. METAL GEAR Mk. II dances to the music you play.

The confirmed locations of the game shown so far are The Middle East, Eastern Europe, South America and Shadow Moses. One more setting is unknown.

Some Gamestop stores will be holding a midnight launch for MGS4 on the evening of Wednesday, June 11th. Check your local Gamestop/EB Games to find out if their store is holding a midnight launch. Demo booths will be set up inside participating stores for eager MGS fans to play the final build before picking it up at midnight. At the event, Liquid Ocelot announced that Konami will be holding special launch events on Los Angeles, New York City and Akihabara. He also hinted at a possible new project from Konami that is a sequel to something. Add that to Kojima claiming ZONE OF THE ENDERS 3 being high on Kojima Production's priority list in the OPM UK review...hmm....

Your point? People are still going to look at MGS4 as they did the past games-- not to mention plenty of people aren't going to want to buy a game that's clearly part of a larger story if they can't also do the rest of that story.

That's pricey even for an LE but like Japan it really will be very limited. Despite the price it'll probably sell out in a matter of hours. It will be sold exclusively on the Konami website. In all fairness, the PS3 and DualShock 3 shells aren't even made out of the same material. It's not just a coat of paint.

Still, it is expensive, even with the $85 limited edition included. But those who want it will still buy it, and it'll still sell out super fast.

They should include GTA IV for that price, at least it would be more on the spirit of it.
