I'm really looking forward to getting a "Steel"/"Hagane" version of the PS3.
I wouldn't mind shelling out extra $$$ for it either.

Unfortunately preorders for the "Hagane" PS3 have been sold out across Japan for a few weeks now. I woulda spent the extra cash for it as well as a collector's item. I think the cheapest you'll find it on import sites will run you about $800.

PlayStation Blog confirms that North America will be getting a Limited Edition Bundle, complete with the MGS4 Limited Edition and, you guessed it...



More details will come soon, but they won't yet reveal the box for the bundle and all the details.

EDIT> Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's technically nothing wrong with Snake's Eyes correct? He's just wearing that patch to provide a sort of HUD interfacing system to his eye? Is that what it is? (on another box art, his eye is not covered, also in another game, his right eye is patched (portable ops))

RE-EDIT>> N/M it's called Solid Eye, and it's suppose to interface and provide 5 senses of enhanced information to Snake, as well as provide infared, night vision, scope to him as well.

I always laughed at the ones getting so excited about limited adition game/system bundles..... and besides 40GB? the way the PS3 games work, thats no space at all

I am sure the game will be ok, but I think people are placing to much "OMG" into the game.

One could say the same about any game, but the fact still remains that MGS4 is one of the biggest releases this year and for PS3 owners probably the biggest release of the generation.

It's pretty likely that the North American LE Bundle will be an 80GB unit since they've gone ahead and restarted production of the 80GB model for the SE Bundle. I'll let you know when I find out.

And yeah, Omniblast, SOLID-EYE SYSTEM is just a piece of technology developed by Otacon for Snake's missions, there's nothing actually wrong with his eye. You get it very early on in the game.

-. - the gamestop that just opened up around my place apparently gave away all the beta discs, even though they were supposed to be for people who pre-orded MGS4 ... now I gotta see if EB still has some. Not impressed at all.

Also, Konami fails hard on the MGS collection. While MGS3 is the Subsistence disc, they didn't included the 2nd disc full of bonus stuff.

I mean, I'm sure MGS4 is a quality game, but MGS games don't appeal to everyone. Having to sneak around and not being able to just kill things bugs a lot of people.

GTA4 will probably be the biggest release for far more PS3 owners than MGS4 will.

Surely you've played MGS before? It's not Splinter Cell. 90% of the time you can progress by killing everyone in sight if you so choose.

I'll admit I've only played a few demos. Perhaps they are biased towards the 'tactical action' part, but it always seemed like if the enemy saw you, you were screwed. The controls and camera are also far better tuned for sneaking around than killing things.

While the games reward those who can keep from being spotted, you do usually have the option to fight your way out of a conflict instead of fleeing.

Espionage doesn't always mean evasion in MGS either, as most of the time (in MGS3 especially) you'll be sneaking around to kill enemies, not avoid them altogether.

Obviously it's still not for everyone. I know plenty of people who despise the series for it's complicated controls or sometimes convoluted story. MGS certainly isn't comparable to Halo or Mario in mainstream appeal, but there's very little to suggest that MGS4 isn't one of the most important titles ever for PS3.
