Aksannyi, I think you may have accidentally double-posted. How on Earth you did it across the time span of 18 minutes is beyond me, but, still . . .

Re: What have you learned from video games that you've later used?

To this day, I smugly keep the knowledge that I expanded my vocabulary through the playing of video games. When people say that video games are not educational, or tout their V-smile systems as the "first ever educational video game systems," I resist the urge to slap them, and simply smile to myself knowingly. Ignorant fools.
Totally agree, every kid should do some video games. I got my niece and nephews to play FFXI and now they can type. They do not spell that great but thats really cause of how we talk in chat with short words at times.

I would say all time thing I learned on FFXI was what time it is around the world in a flash.

Regarding online games (especially FFXI), I learned a lot of English, but also kept some foreign languages I know up-to-date, as I don't have the oppertunity to speak those languages a lot to various people every day outside of games.

I also think they contributed a little bit to.. time management skills, though games have messed up for me a lot at first too i'm quite sure a lot of people can find themselves in this.

I've learned many things from video games, but most of them are latent like Akashimo's case.

Main things I've learned are vocabulary, how to create good strategies for stuff, thinking things through, Japanese, handling morons, and that no matter what you possess, only your skill will determine how good you are at what you wish to do.

That, and never judge someone's intelligence by their age. Ever. They might smite you with Flare if you do.

I learned that the princess is in another castle.

Mainly diligence to keep at it if things don't go right from the beginning. (Like bombing every fk'ing square in the game on Metroid.)

I can't say that I've learned much of anything from video games. Except that time wasting can be fun.

The internet went partially down when I posted the first time, and as I clicked "Go Advanced" to try to post it again, it apparently did post (when I thought it hadn't). Like I said, internet's been screwy today, I spent a good 10 minutes waiting for the quick reply screen to load ...

It seems to be back up (albeit a bit slow) so we'll see.
