What was your least favorite/most annoying occurance in FF7?

Mine was working up a storm to get that black materia, only to have it stolen from that bastard cat/shinra spy.

Not a peeve with the game itself, but from what it's spawned. In every online game, forum, guild, etc there is someone who thinks they are Cloud, or CloudX, or Cloud666, or Sephiroth, or SephirothX, or any other way you can arbitrarily spell a character's name from that game.

and every guy trying to use that to their advantage and failing at it by trying to have the cool "Sephiroth attitute"

and also people who freakin try to have so many variations of the name "Sephiroth" on FFXI

The fact that people keep asking for a remake when so many other games would benefit so much more from one (Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana...)

That and how many people treat it like it was some epic, flawless masterpiece that was an out-of-this-world orgasmic experience to play through.

Let's see:

- Final Boss can be tied up indefinately by just overwriting his slow with Haste, Kefka could destroy Sephiroth.
- Ruby and Emerald Weapons get names mixed up.
- Barret manages to butcher Ebonics.
- Awesome NPC diologue: "This man are sick."
- Cloud is deadlocked with Tidus on emo - Squall doesn't even come close, he just hates everyone.

Finally, just the fact that its praised as the greatest RPG ever when there were a lot of other ones equally deserving of such a title.

Really, aside from the fact that it was honestly a pretty good RPG, the only other thing that makes me thankful for FFVII is that its success made Steve Race (former head of SCEA) look like a complete jackass for stating people don't want RPGs anymore.

Well I know for me personally, FFVII was the first FF game I played, and maybe the first RPG in general. That's why it's still a classic favorite and in my mind I look at it as the "original" even though it wasn't the first.

The writing in Final Fantasy VII was terrible, so I couldn't stomach getting all that far into it. It's the same problem that plagued Eternal Sonata for me, a game that I really wanted to like, but just couldn't. Maybe I'd have a different opinion on Final Fantasy VII if it didn't read like a lousy piece of fanfiction, but until some remake happens and Square Enix gives it a good localization, I'll continue to view the game in a negative light.

Aerith dying, I though she and cloud would make a good couple, and yes i know if you use a code you can bring her back but it doesn't change the storyline!
