Quick question about 40 GB PS3...

...as I'm picking one up on Tuesday since it's payday for me, and with no more furniture payments, I have the money to afford one. Do the 40 GB models have the Dual Shock 3 controllers? It's not a huge deal for me, but I'm just curious if they do. Thanks in advance.

Can't wait to get my Uncharted on, srsly.

As far as I'm aware, yes. From what I understand the only difference is the HD.

Just checked, yes you get a sixaxis controller or whatever tf it is.

I believe all PS3 models are shipped with the standard controller.

Though to be honest, I've yet to see a single package marked "Dual Shock 3" so idk wtf is going on there... I want my rumble damn it.

The DualShock 3 doesn't launch here until the Q2, likely alongside the release of MGS4. You can currently import one for between $50-60, in either the original black or the smexy new white colour.

And yes, get Warhawk. And Super Stardust HD. And FolkLore. And Ratchet & Clank. And Resistance.

Sony and Immersion eventually settled on something. Hell if I remember what it was. They're actually working more closely now than they ever have in the past. Microsoft and Nintendo didn't fight the lawsuit, so they never had any problems.

Also, Unreal Tournament III. I've already added over 10 maps, 2 game modes and 5 mutators. It's a beautiful thing to have for consoles.

Yeah, I'll snag Super Stardust HD since it's cheap... but the others will have to wait for now. Uncharted is #1 on the list and absolutely must be played. Uncharted is to PS3 as Mass Effect is to 360. It will be glorious.

So, I just checked my bank account again. I have $800. I have a dusty PS2 and a stack of games I haven't touched in forever, nor intend on touching again ever again. I have no bills in between now and Tuesday when I get paid. Gamestop is running a promotion where they take $50 off the price of a PS3 when you trade in your PS2. Uncharted calls.

Guess who's coming home with a 40 GB PS3 from Gamestop tomorrow.

Gamestop is also running their promotion where you get 30% additional trade-in value with 3 games or more. Do iiiit.

Well, I just got home with a PS3 and Uncharted as planned. System is doing an update, hence why I'm here and not in my living room. I was surprised to get $20 for Okami, heh... after the trade in alongside a few games, I left paying about $360. Definitely a happy camper.

My only gripe so far... even the new 40 GB PS3s still don't come with any HD cables, or even an ethernet cable. Ended up using the ones that came with my 360 Elite since I already had an Ethernet cable for it, and I have the 360 hooked up via VGA. There's something funny about having an HDMI cable with "Microsoft" printed on the plug connected to the back of the PS3.

At any rate, I guess I need to file for the five free Blu-Ray movies. Even though I am none too pleased with the movie industry and their stupid format war, free movies are free movies. I do plan on using the PS3 for all my movie playback though. It's pretty much fact that the 360 doesn't upscale DVDs nearly as well. Should be good times.

The 20 GB and 60 GB are the only two that have hardware backwards compatibility, but both are no longer sold in stores. Have to get them used. The 80 GB has Xbox 360 style backwards compatiblity... it works, but it's still not what I'd consider "optimal". The 40 GB has no backwards compatibility at all, but in all honesty, if you really want to continue to play PS2 games, hold on to your PS2.

I'd just come to terms with being shafted on the 40GB version over here and having to buy a third-party HD to upgrade. The lack of backwards compatibility is a real sickener though. Are they seriously trying to make this platform as unattractive as possible?
