I usually prefer less wires so I'd probably go for this. The only issue I see is if someone moves the pieces separately while cleaning or whatever.

While this will be great for some people, I'm on the "meh" bandwagon also. If its something you think works for you then thats great but for the rest of us that don't really care, we'll save a little green.
