JUMP FESTA 2008, Japan's annual (Square Enix-centric) games show is underway!

This thread will be updated with the latest info.

Rumour has it...FINAL FANTASY XIII is playable behind closed doors. There will also be new trailers for the FABULA NOVA CRYSTALIS project behind closed doors, as well as trailers for other Square Enix titles, both public and private.

Nintendo is also present to showcase their current Wii lineup as well as SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL.

Back in May, project director Tetsuya Nomura claimed there would be at least 10 heroes present from the FINAL FANTASY series, in addition to villains from the games. However, he also stated that he's working with the team to get as many possible characters into the game. Don't be surprised to see multiple heroes and villains from a number of games if it does happen (and hope for Tarutarus!).

Though it is an action/fighting game, you will gain experience from battles and you will be able to customize your equipment for battle. Not much else is known at the moment about how the game plays otherwise, but there should be impressions coming in from various media outlets.

I have to agree Wish! There was a time when I was getting a bit down on my PSP but lately things have just exploded and I can hardly keep up! For me portable gaming is much more a part of my life because I'm on the go, so my PS and DS are always at my side. I'm having anxiety attacks waiting for god d**n Crisis Core to come out over here!! I have the JP version but don't want to miss a thing so I refuse to play it until it comes out in English!

I'll take the Kingdom Hearts Corner then:

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (btw its technically pronounced three-five-eight days over two) for DS

New Trailer doesn't have much. Just a few scenes of Roxas interacting with Saix and Xigbar. The final scene has Roxas and Axel ambushed by Heartless, when Member 14 appears from no where and saves them. She then starts to remove her hood, but the trailer ends without seeing her face.

Notice there has been a slight UI overhaul for the game. (Character pics were smaller, no menu in sight)

Both Single Player and Multiplayer are available to try. Both demos take place in Twilight town. The Single player demo just shows off playing as Roxas solo. Max of a 3 hit combo during the demo. Camera is a little hard to use/get used to (KH1 anyone?)

In Multiplayer mode you can select between Roxas, Axel, Saix and Xigbar to play as. (Final version all 13 will supposedly be available, possibly 14 if they include the 14th member). Player comments are that the other members have a different feel to them, very different from playing as Sora/Roxas. The other members retain many of the abilities they used against you in KH2/KH2:FM. Mission is to defeat a Darkside in Twilight Town. Upon completing the mission, players are ranked (based on what?) In the final build, this [Multiplayer mode] will supposedly influence Roxas in Single player mode, slightly altering how he levels/stats.

The projected Japanese release date is Summer 2008, but there is some uncertainty to whether or not they can meet that dead line.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep for PSP

Just a new trailer, no demo available to play:

Brief reminder of who is who. Terra: Brown haired new character, secret boss in Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix. Ven: The one who looks exactly like Roxas. (Master)Xehanort: The creepy looking bald guy from the Final Mix secret movie. Game takes place 9 years before Kingdom Hearts 1.

Summery (Translated by Kingdom Hearts Ultimania, Xaldin & FF&KH Blog):

"Sleep gives birth to the concealed fate of the past."

Conversation between Ven and Terra in Destiny Islands
Terra: "Wasn't there a time when you was saving me?"
Ven: "Back then it was probably because we were friends."
Terra moves his hand to rests it on Ven's shoulders.
Terra: "Thank you, Ven."

Scene changes to Terra and Master Xehanort in the Place of Gathering
M. Xehanort: Did you believe about reaching forward to grasp that last glimmer? The wall of light and darkness exceeded each other, creating the original me, and Terra waited for me impatiently." (While M. Xehanort is talking he opens one of his hands in a greeting fashion, enraging Terra.)
Terra: "I have a ‘Friend’.. What you have done has given me hatred to Xehanort."
Terra then summons his keyblade

We then see Ven meeting Xehanort in Olympus Coliseum.
Ven: "Who a-...I've met you before. (Ven is surprised as he is remembering something.)
Xehanort: "It seems you have lost something. However unless what you have lost is put back into your hands, it will be an eternal lost. Once you obtain it, grip it and understand the truth."
Xehanort is soon holding his hand out, as it begins to glow, Ven is watching with an expression of fear and confusion.

Trailer now shows a montage of gameplay featuring both Terra & Ven as playable characters

Scene cuts to Yensid's Tower
Mickey is shown defending himself with the keyblade. However soon he begins to fumble with the keyblade and it vanishes. Goofy, Donald, and Yensid watch Mickey. Mickey soon looks back up to the Wizard, and summons his Keyblade once again.

Fade to Sleeping Beauty world
Maleficent is looking around the castle where vines are everywhere. Then, a crow lands on Maleficent shoulder and she turns towards Terra. Terra looks at Maleficent, as she begins to laugh doubtfully.

Trailer switches back to the Place of Gathering
Ven is facing off against the Dark Soldier, and knocks off his helmet, however his face is not shown. The scene soon switches to Terra holding an unconscious Ven, with Master Xehanort looking desperate, and apologetic.

Xehanort: "The person who has wrapped himself in the darkness does not have the qualification to wield a keyblade. He is a demon who has been taken by the darkness. Please correct my mistake..."

Trailer Ending
Ven is on the Destiny Islands coast looking towards a young Sora & Riku who are playing at the beach. At the same time Ven is at Twilight Town watching the Coast. He is looking down, and appears to be sad.

"I don't want to be depended on, you are my 'Friend' ..just erase me."

End

No news on Aqua (the blue haired new character) and her part of the game

No projected or set release date, will be the last of the 3 new KH games to be released.

Kingdom Hearts: Coded (Moble Phones, specifically FOMA)

If you don't live in Japan+Have a FOMA phone, you're not getting it. And since that is the greater majority here, who cares!

(The game is designed to patch up the lose ends of Mickey and Riku from KH1 and KH2, by debuging the data from the Journal. You play as a Digitally made Sora)
