An Xbox for Halo - I was getting utterly thrashed in the res. hall matches and needed to get more play time in (not to mention a bigger screen).

I bought PS2 style controllers for my PC to play FFXI... And, only FFXI...

Not particularly, no. I usually buy my consoles at or near launch, and wait it out for the titles I'm interested in. GameCube I suppose could be the closest match...I wouldn't have bought it so soon if it weren't for Smash Bros. Melee.

EDIT: Well, I lied. I built a new PC for FFXI.

X-Box: For Morrowind and KotOR, since at the time I had no PC to run either. And I still prefer console to PC if I can get away with it.

Wii: Zelda: TP and FFCC whenever we get the damn game.

A Dreamcast, and later, a GameCube for Phantasy Star Online. Though not a "killer app" for either system, it was a milestone for console RPGs, as it was the first to feature online play. Not to mention I had to have spent upwards of 3500 hours of my life on that game across all platforms it was released on, save for Xbox.

Gameboy Color just for Pokemon Red. Then of course came Silver and blah blah blah.

Wii for Mario Galaxy and SSBB.

MGS4/MGS Online is tempting me to buy a PS3... Curse Hideo for making that damn sexy series. Of course, FFXIII and Lair are an extra. Good thing DMC4 and GTAIV isn't exclusive to it or I wouldn't have a choice. @w@ Price still scares me though.
