  • Pai Pai's OFFICIAL Liepzig Games Convention 2007 Thread

This year's Games Convention in Liepzig, Germany kicks off on Wednesday. Microsoft and Sony will be there in full force and Nintendo will have some presence, and this year's show promises to be much, much larger than E3 ever was.

Microsoft will be present with their big titles for this year and next like Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Too Human, Halo 3 and Mass Effect. Sony's presence is the biggest this year, showing their Fall 2007 lineup in Warhawk, Lair, Heavenly Sword, THE EYE OF JUDGEMENT, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune among others.

Konami and Hideo Kojima will be present once again, hopefully with more content on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Online. Square Enix is holding off their big guns for TGS next month, but will still be showing off a few games.

Sony kicks off the show Wednesday morning with a breakfast conference, and has promised to have new announcements, with the PS3's HDTV Tuner functionality revealed and, rumoured heavily, the new rumble-enabled SIXAXIS controller.

Stay tuned for updates and discussion.

Do you have a real job or do you just get sent to stuff like this?

    Just wondering.

I used to try to make it to as many conventions as possible, but this year E3 was pretty much impossible to get into and Leipzig lands at a pretty crappy time during school. TGS is looking mighty tasty though, and I still like to keep up with the updates when I'm at home.

@ . @ I wish I could get all teh inside info like you do Pai.

WTF was up with Lair getting delayed - _ - (I saw the reason why on IGN but still, wtf)

WOOT @ the possibility of rumble. I wonder though, will Sony be able to release online patches to make the rumble work in
previous PS3 games, or is that not possible? It'd be nice to have rumble for Resistance!

As a final note, I'm hoping for both more info on WotG from SE next month, and maybe, just maybe, they'll get their
god damn act together and make a decent Seiken Densetsu title as opposed to the piece of shit excuses for games we've been getting. Stop bastardizing one of my favorite series SE > _ <

This is what Seiken Densetsu is all about.

Heroes of Mana has gotten good reviews all around and the creator of the series keeps pushing these games in different directions. I actually think that's admirable. I don't have a DS at the moment, but when I get a DS Lite soon, Heroes of Mana is the first game I plan to pick up.

          RTS on DS [Yes please.]

            Megaton:

StarCraft II, playable at Liepzig Games Convention.

Now I really wish I was going.

Lair was delayed due to some major bugs that came up with the game's online functionality. The game features an online scoreboard to keep track of how well you managed to make it through each stage, your total points, etc. The game was, essentially, "gold" but the network problems caused the delay of its release.

Re: Pai Pai's OFFICIAL Liepzig Games Convention 2007 Thread

It's doing OK here because it's more popular. However in Japan, the game sold a measely 20,000 copies and was then pulled from store shelves. That was in the first few weeks apparently.

Rumor has it SE is considering scrapping the World of Mana project altogether because of lack of interest in Japan.

They need to stick with what made the series great > _ < SD2 and 3 are two of the best action RPGs ever. Dawn of Mana was a prettied up POS (I own and beat it for the record) and should not have been labelled SD4, especially when it's a completely different genre.

SC2 was also playable at Blizzcon, but I never get to attend these things. Hell I still need a passport just to cross the fucking border - _ -

Re: Pai Pai's OFFICIAL Liepzig Games Convention 2007 Thread

I'm hoping to see more of the lesser-known Sony titles, particularly the fascinating Escher-esque game EchoChrome.

I think Microsoft would be doing themselves a disservice if they didn't show something on Alan Wake.

As for Nintendo... I don't think they put much emphasis on Leipzig.

For the rest, I think Starcraft 2 is a shoe-in to win best of show. The early hands-on reports say the gameplay is really smooth and varied, and with it in playable form, there's no doubt in my mind that it will outclass every other game being showcased.

EDIT: Just found this thread over at NEOGAF started by someone who claims to be at Leipzig and is getting some early information. Take it with a grain of salt until some of it gets confirmed.

EDIT 2: More information getting posted in real time to above linked thread.

Most amusing post I've seen so far:
