I just learned an amazing lesson today, back up all your memory card data on your HDD, it'll come in handy when you lose your 7 year old and 5 year old memory cards.
/sigh.

Reason: lol
Who else remembers playing with their PS1, starting it up, looking at their memory cards, and going "Hey, format! Wuzzat?! I have ADHD, let's click it and find out! Dude.... wait, what?"
I actually think the HDD is the only reliable part of my PS2, I have to get a can of compressed air out or take apart and clean out the PS2 if I want to play anything else.
Worst of all is the PS2's video signal overheats from extended play... which is weird. If I shut down completely and turn it back on, the signal gets scrambled. and I can't make out a damn thing. So I either have to wait for the system to cool off or I just stick it in the freezer for five minutes and hook it up again.
Its not the ideal fix and its definately a weird one, but it works.

I have the opposite problem. When the HDD in the PS2 revs up, it sounds like a the tins cans being dragged at the back of some newlywed's car ... with the sound of a dying ostrich that sucked in too much helium thrown in. The rest of my PS2 is just peachy.
Pro tip: when wiping down the PS2, use Swiffer wipes. OUTSIDE ONRY (Don't come crying to me about your issues when you used the wipes on the HDD platters...)
