I'm sure the father might not have been so protective of his children if it was just an effeminate attention whore in a costume saying hi. However, seeing as there was at least another guy operating the camera and quite possibly a few other people out of shot then the guy's response doesn't seem as severe as it could have been. If he had wanted to spark the kid out he could have pretty easily but it appeared he just wanted to scare him off. Also bear in mind that it's quite possible word had circulated someone was around creating a public nuisance and the guy was already concerned and on his guard. For example. leaning inside peoples' car windows and shouting at them or standing in front of their cars as they're trying to drive isn't going to win you support if someone does give you a clout.

The kid said his line and started to walk off. It should be over at that point.

However, the father called him back so he could tell him off. I'll say that again. The kid was already walking away and the father called him back. At that point the kid should have walked away, sure... however that in no way excuses the father of his actions.

He then proceeded to keep ripping into him after the kid walked away. Add into that, the fact that he raised his fist against him and the father is on some real shaky ground in my eyes.

Seriously, what kind of message does that send?
