As much as I hate them, Future Shop (and to a lesser extent Best Buy, who are actually good) have the best deals (EB won't be doing anything major, they can't afford it) and I don't know if I want to jump on that $150 off or not. It comes with one free movie, and the sale is only valid until Thursday.

Ugh, I want a PS3 while it's cheap, but I don't want to get screwed out of a possibly better deal in the near future. @. @


It's days like this I wish I could just head on down to the USA and take advantage of the better selection you guys have.

Yeah, ever since they started spoiling the ends of games, I've been boycotting EB and GameStop.

I don't see why anyone is really concerned about getting the PS3 now. It will no doubt be improved again by Christmas, and it might actually have a game or two worth buying then

its just goign to cause problems at school with the "got one" crowd and the "can;t afford one" crowd being bullied.

er... I don't know about in the U.K. but here I didn't feel I was really harrassed for not being up to date on games in school. I was that kid jamming on an SNES when Playstation had already been out for awhile. Not to mention at best that sort of bullying is at the elementary school level, and that's typically kind of weak sauce, the real hardcore stuff doesn't seem to happen till highschool. If you're scared, get the child in martial arts, no one's going to mess with him. ^_~

I've been on a soft boycott on EB Games for a long time! Wasn't until recently that the city I live in even had a Game Stop. The rampant fanboy~isms that live there make me vomit. Didn't always be this bad, but now I'm in and out if I ever have to go in there. Of course it's also in the mall, and people who just hang out at the mall bother me too. I'm just not a people person I guess.

But I went to Circuit City and bought my PS3 this morning. I asked the guy if they'd been flying off the shelves since the price cut and he said no. He didn't think many people knew about it, but today was the first time he's seen where 2 of them sold in the same day. I bought mine at 11AM, they open at 10AM, so in an hour they sold 2.

The deal that Circuit City has is a SONY SIXAXIS and not some 3rd party piece of junk, but they were out of stock. So they ordered one and said they'd call me on Wednesday for my FREE controller. So instead of paying $599 + $49.99 + tax for the 60G unit and a 2nd controller, I paid $499 + tax. Saving me anywhere from 53 to 159 bux. That's money I can send some place else.

Yes in the early 90's there was a real us and them attitude in schools with consoles, etc. all the poor kids got beaten up by the rich kids because their parents couldn't afford to spend out on these new age gadgets as they were then, I was one of them who had hassel. It drove some kids to suicide and there was quite a few articles in national newspapers on it.

The consoles became part of the "Image" concience that there was a big increase of in the 90's. If you had a console you had lots of friends. By the end of the 90's where wages had increased abit and techology ahd come down it phased out, until the PS2 and xbox came in and then it was the same, and now with teh 360 and PS3 its started again, there was an article in teh Daily Mail on it last week about an increase of bullying for thsoe reasons.

I think FutureShop or some other Canadian retailer just took another $50 off the 60GB PS3.

Reminds me of the Louis Black joke. He believes the entrance to Hell is in Houston because on a dead end street there are Starbucks Cafes DIRECTLY across the street from one another.

We have one at the mall, that's been there for like 10 plus years now. There used to be a manager there that was actually a useful guy. This was back before PS2 was released though. Now it's all Xbox, all the time! I hold my breath when I go in there, I don't want to be contaminated with their "air." The 2 GameStops are on the same side of town, but a few miles away from one another.

Seriously though I'm just hoping to get the best deal I can >.> I really don't want to buy a PS3 later on only to discover I can't play one of my favorite games...


Plus, Lair is out early next month. What I meant by the EB comment is that they aren't a huge retailer that dabbles in all kinds of other areas who can easily afford to make cuts in one section. FutureShop/Best Buy's entertainment section makes pennies in comparison to some of their other departments, such as Home Theater, so it's not surprising to see them knock off $150 bucks off the PS3.


I'm getting insanely sick of these pre-packaged deals though. They pick 5 movies and we have to pick 1 of them... or, you get the system with a free game, but they say what game it is even though they're all relatively the same (or close in) price.

Piss off. Screw the Blu Ray movie, I want a free copy of Resistance.

I don't think I got a playstation until 1998 or so, shortly before FF8 came out, that was my first console and FF7 and Star Ocean 2 where the first PS games I ever played, to be honest I haven't really played a computer game since. Thankfully I don't think we ever had that kind of problem over where I live, we just have a general problem with the rich kids >.>

Heh, funny thing is that I owned a rifle before I ever owned a console system, given that I own a Krag Carbine in almost fully original perfect condition, which for a 109 year old gun is bloody rare, I'd gladly take that over a silly console any day of the week and be grinning to myself about the rich kids boasting about their consoles.
