Hmmm... It'd be interesting to be sure, and I wouldn't mind living in the world of FFXI. The rush of battle would definately be more exhilirating that it is now, and NPC interactions would, of course, be way deeper than they are now. Notorious Monsters would have a solid story behind each and every single one of them (thus giving them a reason to be notorious in the first place), and part of the way you track them down, or find some weakness with which to fight them with, would be to research and uncover this history about it.
What I've always wanted to see, though, was a d20 campaign setting for Vana'diel. A Monster Manual for it would be a pretty interesting read, and there'd be a special section for NMs that currently exist (although, most NMs would end up being nothing more than progressions of base creature stats, with maybe one or more levels of character classes/jobs thrown in for good measure). Hmmm... I wonder what AV's stat block would look like.

I would prolly imagine its CR to be around 80-100, actually. The Epic Level Handbook might (emphasis on the word might) have some things in it that could be useful in dealing with it, but have fun with that.
The Thirty-headed Tarrasque would be one of its summoned pets.
Is there in-door plumbing on Vana'Diel? If not, then I'd have to pass... And people are a lot more giving/understanding with their avatars money/time/stuff than they would be with their own...

I think living in FFXI would get pretty messy pretty quickly unless it went by the same rules of the game. For example, someone was mentioning stabbing a goblin in the eyes, well what about them chucking bombs at you? There would be limbs everywhere after that.
As for living in a MMO, I still need to think about this, I'm not sure if there is any MMO that I would really care to live in, but then again I don't know many MMO's. Now an alternate reality I would like to live in would be that of the frame of reference from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Artificial bodies, external memory devices, cyberbrain connection to the net, simply thinking about that makes me feel warm inside. All the possibilty that lies within those differences from how things are in real life now. External memory devices connected wirelessly to your cyberbrain. *spasm of joy* The functionality, power, customization, fluid reality.
