yep, Nintendo at least makes a profit, and while I'm not sure about every console ever like Manatra claims, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

That's not even a fair assessment though.
Sure it is. Do you really think that the problem is Sony not selling games? I'm sure the 600$ price tag is much more inhibiting than a 60$ game.

Of course, the games are a problem too. Right now, the PS3 doesn't really have any games that will scream to EVERYONE "PLAY ME!". Sure, resistance looks pretty, but good luck getting your mom to play it. Sure, Little Big Planet looks fun, but how many NASCAR loving red necks are going to be the least bit interested in it?

Look at Wii Sports, sure it's a pack-in title, but if you look at Japan it's also the most popular without that advantage. Why? Because EVERYONE can pick it up and have fun with it. EGM did a segment on what happens if you take a Wii to a retirement home, even grandpa and grandma wanted to get in on it.

Nintendo has a definite advantage in that playing it LOOKS fun, on top of being fun.

You do realize that Nintendo has made a profit on every piece of hardware they have sold, ever.

Honestly, not to be rude Malacite, but please stop making claims you can't back up. And no, what comes out of Ken Kutaragi's mouth doesn't count, there's a reason EGM had a "Ken's Crazy Quote of the Month" feature.

As for computers vs. PS3 and Xbox 360. Computers already beat them, especially since computers have the advantage of DX10 and the new version of OpenGL (Long Peak and Mt. Evans). For example, Crytek has said their upcoming shooter, Crysis, is not possible on the PS3.

Anyway all this talk about hyper realistic graphics etc. is kind of pointless. I think Nintendo has it right, concentrate on the games first.

I've read numerous articles saying otherwise on console sales, and it's true for at least not initially. Microsoft is only ust now seeing profits from Xbox sales. I'm not sure about PS2, given how many times Sony's had to revise it. The Sony Rep also said more or less the same thing back when I was at Futueshop.

As for Crysis, if it's not possible on PS3 then why the hell was GamePRO previewing it for PS3 in this month's issue?

You're absolutely right about the games for PS3 though Feba. Even Resistance doesn't scream out "Play me now!" but that's something that'll be corrected down the road if Sony can just hold out.

As for Wii, I'm seriously tired of the gimmicky crap but that's my own jaded opinion. Wii sports was very fun for a while... then it got horribly redundant. I want the unique, artful games like Metroid.

EDIT: It's entirely possible GamePRO just screwed up royally. I just checked IGN and there's only rumors of it being on consoles at all.

Double Edit: I'm getting tired of looking like a jack ass because of various "credible" sources screwing up their facts/making false claims. God damn you IGN and your ilk.

I can understand you here. I'm currently loving Twilight Princess, but I do realize that most everyone else finished that months ago. Sadly, like everyone was saying 7 pages ago, it's just a matter of waiting.

Holidays this year will be fun...

Damn right, and we don't even have to wait that long.

          Games I'm looking forward too:

          Final Fantasy 1 & 2 (PSP) (June)
Metroid Prime 3 (Wii) (August I believe)
Silent Hill Origins (PSP) (Not Sure)
Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP) (Not Sure )
          Halo 3 (360 (September 25)
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) (November)
Devil May Cry 4 (PS3, 360, PC) (Not sure)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) (December) (LAME*)

          * There is (or was, not sure if it's done yet) a contest that was exclusive to Japan to decide the final roster of the game by fan vote. This is total BS, especially since Wii games are apparently both made and sold first in the USA, and then Europe and Japan.

          I want Mega Man!!! > _ <

EDIT: Speaking of which, a classic MM game on either Wii or PS3 would be freaking sweet (Wii mote for the buster, or just plain SICK graphics knowing Capcom)

I doubt this. It probably has more to do with games in the EU and JP coming out on different days than in america, like what happened with TAU.

And oh dear god if they make another mega man game...

            Games i'm looking forward to:

            SSBB
            MP3
            GG^C
            GH3

Also, I've heard that a lot of games should be announcing Wifi connection possibilities in around 4 months from now. Online Wii games should be awesome.

Mario kart with an actual steering wheel, in battle mode against friends from coast to coast, anyone?

Unfortunately, they're continuing the ZX series (ugh) and have started a new spin-off of the Battlenetwork series.

I'd rather they just release Mega Man 9 and freaking tell us how that story arc ended already. Same goes for the X series (they're best IMO, at least up to X4. 5 and 6 were garbage...). Mega Man is one of my all time favorite series, but Capcom has been taking it in weird directions lately.

I'd like to see them revamp the older games in full 3D and have the boss weapons utilized towards stage progression. They've done this before in the older games but I think it'd be amazing to see the weapons have realistic effects on your surroundings using the Havok physics engine (or maybe Unreal 3?)

              That'd be sweet.

Even cooler would be a Zelda-type game but with friends (not Four Swords, Nintendo have Mercy on us please!) where you could actually interact with various aspects of the environments.

Example; There's a door that needs to be opened by a switch that requires another player to stand on it for the door to remain open. One (or more if it's dangerous) person goes off to open it, while the rest of the party continues on.)

Yeah, this isn't exactly new in terms of mechanics, but think of how the Wiimote could come into play here.

Yes, Capcom (once one of my favorite developers) has sunk to a new low.

It's not the first time they've done this sort of thing either...
