Graphics do not make the game, and spirtes will ALWAYS be better then 3d graphics, do you know why? Space and Detail. Well, maybe it's just an art style that's good, and not very cpu intensive.

    Low standard?

Then why are you all getting excited about playing the same game with better graphics?

It's just like you have a choice to keep your existing girlfriend but can make her look 10x better.

For some unknown reasons, this statement makes me want to barf.
            Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,
            yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
leaving no trace in the water.

You might want to explain your position better than that. Street Fighter is the most refined and well-designed fighting game series in the world. It's used for all the big fighting game tournaments for a reason. Sega's Virtua Fighter series is the most in-depth fighter the 3D lineup has to offer, but even it pales in comparison to Street Fighter 3: Third Strike in terms of gameplay depth.

Not saying you can't have your own preference, but your statement above is pretty ridiculous. Plays like a flash game, eh. Wow.

When street fighter 2 came out, I was still in 5th grade I think. It got me excited enough to buy the SNES version as soon as it got out.

Personally, I prefer 2D fighters, every 3D fighter I've played feels like a lame action games. Although things like SSBM with 2.5D graphics are nice, sprites can have much better looking graphics. If you can show me something that can cel-shade and look at good as Guilty Gear with full effects, in 2.5D, i'd be impressed, but there's still very much a place for sprites. You just can't have hand-animated 3D models like you can with 2D.

Wind Waker, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are fine examples off 3D games that are brilliantly hand-animated, its just extremely rare for a developer to make such a big effort to do so.

Its just so much easier for people to do motion capture, but if they take the time to hand-animate aspects of the mo-cap, they could stand to add a lot to the movement and artistry of 3D games.

Ico and Shadow of the Collosus do look beautiful, although they aren't cel-shaded, and don't really look animated at all. I have to disagree on Wind Waker. I've actually been playing it this week, and though it does look beautiful, usually, it has it's issues. My boat getting flooded, and magically resurfacing, all sorts of clipping issues at sea honestly.

Cel-Shaded games are very, very imperfect though, compared to GOOD 2D sprites. Look at Dofus/Wakfu, Guilty Gear XX. At times, if it weren't for the HUD, they could pass as animation. Wind Waker, and no cel-shaded game i've ever seen, could. Games like XIII and Jet-set do look awesome, but they just don't have the same quality.

They play like Flash games because they could be made just as well in Flash. Animations, collision detections, simple movement, what else makes it complicated? Pressing a long series of buttons as fast as you possibly can to execute a combination? There's nothing amazing about these games, nothing that can keep me coming back to them. The characters don't look interesting, they don't have interesting outro movies, and their only depth comes from poorly made animated and live action movies.

I didn't grow up in arcades because I didn't have friends who grew up in arcades, but mostly because at that time the town I lived in was just blossoming. I was a normal kid anyways, I played video games sure but most of my time was spent playing outside.

Stop hating on DOA. It wreaks of jealousy.

I don't think anyone is 'hating on' DOA, and especially is not jealous. The only benefit DOA has over any other fighting game is jiggle physics.
