    Eh, still it's the old generation finding any excuse they can. Heaven forbid though that they admit it's their generations parenting abilities to blame. Article just screams of what an old guy I know, likes to be called Mr. Bill, would say.

    He's also very adamant that "The Internet should of stayed as a Military tool only." God I could see him using that there as an excuse to defend his idea as why.

        yeah that kid was expelled and told to continue his learning at a alternative school...kinda sad...the thing is he has no motive to do anything. Cops found nothin in his room or the house but still he was expelled...wheres the asian version of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson when you need'em?? Or is it only the black community that has people like that??

          No, they aren't. Anytime somebody from my ethnicity needs defending, there are 2 fiery Texan German/Irish pastors that come to our defense. That is, if they aren't too drunk to fight their non-Arian wives. Which would be never.

              I made counter-strike 1 maps long ago.... a map of my engineering college. I even put my professor's face onto the models so we could kill him -_-;
              My friends loved it.

                  This article is a perfect example of why I hate old people, bitchy soccer moms, and [most] politicians.

                  Video games train terrorists... apparently.

                    Why the hell should he have to delete the map at all? If I play True Crime, does that mean I'm planning to shoot up LA? If I play Rainbow Six Vegas do I plan on going insane in the Excalibur?

                    Unless he's breaking the law in some way, like using the map to allow someone to build a copy of the school such in a way that it would violate the builder's copyright, what's the problem? This is more asinine than banning little kids from playing cops and robbers or cowboys and indians.

                      Am I the only one that does find it weird to make a map of your highschool? It in no way warrents the type of reception it received but it still warrents a "what the??". I also want to condemn the asian american group that claims this incident is a form of racial profiling and racism, if there is evidence for such a claim, then by all means press it, but this one incident is hardly enough to start playing the race card.

                        Yeah, pretty much. What is weird about it? Schools (and most public buildings) make interesting places for shootouts (Oh god, shootouts, in a school?! Lock me up?! Ever heard of paint ball or laser tag...?), as they have many rooms, hallways, wide open areas, cover. Compare it to a warehouse or office level of an FPS deathmatch. Yes, they might be closer to home, but they're still good candidates.

                        Not to mention like people in the article's comments said, most people who make maps do make something they know of personally, such as a workplace or school. Homes would be far too small to make interesting FPS matches, and these are usually the next most familiar.

                          Re: Reality? Illegal!

                          I don't think making maps of your high school is weird. Consider you would mainly play this game with your friends, from your school. So it's just a fun thought, about seeing familiar places and faces in a game we share a lot of time playing together. We didn't even think it was "shooting in our building", it's more of a "our own building we see everydau? cool!" kinda conversation.

                          My very first mod started with Rainbox six actually, that's since I was in high school. We found out the textures in rainbox six were just normal files (jpg? I can't remember anymore) so we just open up photoshop and put in our faces onto the bad guys. We then start killing each other and play with the rag dolls.... it was fun.

                          Seriously, if a student wants to scout and plan out assault path in their own school, they can just scout the real place. Even better than a game map.

                            Re: Reality? Illegal!

                            Art is modeled after real life, isn't it? For high school kids shooting each other within the high school itself is probably a dream for some, and a way to personalize the game for others. It's nothing serious until it gets too personal or overly gruesome.

                              I for one would like to get involved with this and get the kid back into a public school and his expulsion exspunged from his high school record. in my eyes and probably many others he did nothing wrong. It was just over reacted grown ups trying to make a name for themselves by shoving their foot in their ass like Jack Thompson does from time to time.
