PS3 Update!

Well, while I was having fun upgrading my PS3's HDD I ended up having to update my PS3 to a new version. Seems they just released v1.70, it seems to do the following:

• Controllers with DualShock can now use vibrate function
• PSP can access Playstation and Playstation 2 saved data
• Playstation games downloaded from the Playstation Store can be played on the PS3.

Now if you'll excuse me I'll have fun trying to max my new HD size limit out.

Unfortunately the current crop of PSone games don't work on the PS3. Sony claims that specific files used to play the game on PSP need to be removed to make them compatible on the PS3. They said they'll start fixing those in May and games released from here on out will work on both platforms.

I've been hearing that Firmware 1.70 also makes titles like Gran Turismo 4 and Final Fantasy XII fully playable on European PS3s.

As for tonight's weekly PlayStation Store update, it's a bit of a bummer. Just trailers this week, for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, as well as a few movie trailers.

No matter, next week is David Jaffe's Calling All Cars! I can't wait for that one.

In addition, the Japanese PlayStation Store will receive a playable Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo this coming Sunday.
