Considering it's three years away, I doubt there's much info out there to be dug up just yet.

Believe it when you see it. Incidentally, the estimated cost of creating a typical MMORPG is currently sitting at around $50 million, so "multi-million dollar budget" doesn't really say anything, especially as your average AAA non-MMO game is costing upwards of $25 million to produce, market, and distribute.

        Two things:

-Is Interplay still going? I thought they went broke.

-And, only 3 years to 2010 already? It was 1999 just yesterday.

It does seem rather strange, does it not? I, too, thought that Interplay had gone under (and in truth, they basically have). However, the Wikipedia article on Interplay supports the notion that they are somehow trying to develop a Fallout MMO.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interplay

Note that Interplay technically still holds the rights to publish a Fallout MMO, even though they have granted Bethesda Softworks the right to make Fallout games (hence why Bethesda is developing Fallout 3).

However, given the fact that as far as anyone knows, Interplay does not exist as a functional corporation, and that it has an estimated 11 million dollars in unpaid debt, it is unlikely that anything will come of this (note Wikipedia's notation about their filing with an estimate of $75,000,000 dollars to produce such a game).

Altana will come to my Moghouse and give me Excalibur, Mandau and Aegis before Interplay can even start development.

This sounds more like a scam than anything else, but I doubt anyone would be dumb enough to fund their 75 mil USD experiment unless they are trying to do some money laundry.

              Re: Fallout MMO?

Interplay no longer has the rights to Fallout 3 (that'd be Bethesda), but they have had rights to a Fallout MMO and are planning on developing one.

I'll definitely consider it if it ever sees the light of day. Fallout is one of the few existing science fiction IPs that I think could make a decent transition to MMO.
