It was released on like, Monday or Tuesday for folks that pre-ordered. So that's not surprising.

And seriously, if you grind, it takes no time at all to level in WoW. Especially if you already have a high level character to fund your leveling.

The Blood Elf jumping animation looks like an Elvaan riding a chocobo.

I think the Blood Elves look pretty nifty, actually. And I always wanted to play an elven mage in WoW. But not enough to buy the expansion and reactivate (at least not right now).

Who are you to say that someone else's subjective enjoyment of a game is crazy? I know plenty of folks who would say the same thing about people with multiple (or even singular) 75s in this game.

                  Re: The Burning Crusades....

And leveling a 60 to 70 in WoW is still much, much easier than leveling a 60 to 70 (let alone 75) in FFXI. In order to get the time to level 1-max to equal FFXI's time 1-75, WoW would probably have to raise their level cap to about 100... and that's not even counting the fact that in WoW all jobs can level solo, so you don't have to find a suitable set of other party members with an appropriate combination of jobs every time you want to exp.

I played WoW in the beta, and occasionally on a friend's account, and it's possible that I might buy it when they come out with the game + expansion boxset (Blizzard always does, and for that matter, so does every MMORPG in the world). But probably not; I don't have enough time to play both games and I like FFXI better.

I'll never understand why people can't just play the MMO they like and not worry about what everyone else is doing. It's like some folks can't enjoy the MMO they are playing without trashing the other ones that are out there. Kind of ridiculous.

Ah, so you levelled a toon to 70 already then? No? Then kindly shut up and stop talking about something you have no experience of.

I picked up the expansion on Tuesday and now, on Sunday, after pretty casual quest grinding and xp'ing, I'm about to hit level 62. To get from 61 to 62 I needed to earn 575,000 xp and each even match mob I can kill will give me roughly 500xp when killed solo, much less in a group. An average quest will yield 10k xp but can take from 10 minutes to an hour to complete. The solid grinders in my guild who have the time and no jobs / life are around level 66 now and they've played solidly since Tuesday morning.

Now, let's see. If I started out at level 60 in FFXI on Tuesday morning and played in an exp party for say 12 hours each day getting approximately 8k per hour what level would I be now? Of course, we all know that wouldn't happen because depending on your job and timezone you might be lucky to eke out 3-4 hours xp a day barring any deaths but that's a community problem not a reflection of the game's difficulty. In short, you have no idea what you're talking about but keep making yourself look like a ignorant WoW-hater.

*edit* Ok, this came across very harsh but your post came after reading a long list of, "WoW is weaksauce lolz!11" posts and I felt the need to vent.

Of course they will. In any MMO there are going to be folks who are going to race to be first at everything. Those are also the people who usually burn out as hard and fast as they level, but by then they have already moved on to something else so they don't care.

That's easy to explain, WoW is evil.

And now that I've explained why I can trash talk about WoW...

I was thinking about downloading the trial for myself (only kinda played it before at a friend's house and didn't like it at all at the time), but I wanna try the game just for the chance to really see what so called "modern" MMOGs are about.

So my question is, will the trial be enough for me to get a good idea of what the game is about or am I gonna miss too many stuff to make a proper judgement?

The game itself is very cheap so I could just buy it and try it out for a month to see, but if I can save that then the trial will do.

So in reality the only difference between WoW leveling and XI is that in WoW you can xp right away and alone and in XI you waste time looking for party and all that stuff? That's interesting, how tough are WoW's EM mobs compared to XI's?.

The only thing I liked about WoW was how fast you could recover after a fight, it would be nice if healing HP/MP outside a fight in XI was faster too.

You can't level beyond level 20, but otherwise, you'll see what it's all about for the most part. I don't think you'll have access to the Blood Elves or the Draeni yet, but you'll still have four races on each side to try out, and all of the various classes.

This is gonna take a while.
