Anyone else playing this game? I'm about 15 hours into it and think it's probably the best comic book-based video game ever made. Incredibly cool, and the graphics... well... I'll let this digital picture I took speak for itself.

This is running on a PlayStation 3 with a 1080p 50" HDTV. Absolutely stunning.

Nope, haven't played it, but it looks nice. Then again besides Batman I have no interest in Comics (or games based in comics) at all, so I doubt I'll play it anytime soon.

Is it the same playstyle as the Xmen Legends games? I played those with a friend and enjoyed them. Also, looking to get another game for PS3 and thats the only one that looked decent.
Also, what all characters can you play? Spiderman, Wolverine, Captain America, Thing, Thor, and who else? I suppose its too much to ask if they put in Cyclops or Cable.

Also, screw you and your 1080p, I got mine too long ago, before the whole 1080 stuff took off. Seriously thinking of buying another bigscreen with 1080p. 720p is alright, but I just like the big numbers.

Yes, the gameplay is VERY reminiscent of X-men Legends. You can choose up to 4 heroes in your party (switchable every time you hit a save point, though there are some gotchas and minor quirks that you have to observe once you have a permanent team assembled).

I haven't unlocked all the characters yet, but the complete list is (italicized = locked at beginning of game):

        Black Panther
        Blade
        Captain America
        Daredevil
        Deadpool
        Dr. Strange
        Elektra
        Ghost Rider
        Human Torch
        Iceman
        Invisible Woman
        Iron Man
        Luke Cage
        Mr. Fantastic
        Ms. Marvel
        Nick Fury
        Silver Surfer
        Spiderman
        Spider-Woman
        Storm
        The Thing
        Thor
        Wolverine

Each console version has additional characters as well.

        GBA: Jean Grey and Namor
PSP: Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Ronin
        PS3/Wii/Xbox360: Moon Knight, Colossus

Sorry, no Cyclops or Cable in any version.

I'm a bit surprised at the omission of Cyclops from the roster. Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, and Colossus made it in from the X-Men team. Maybe they decided that Cyclops' singular ability wasn't flexible enough to give him the sort of power variation that the other heroes in the game enjoy. Cable should have been doable, though he'd probably closely resemble Nick Fury or Moon Knight in gameplay terms.

P.S. Just finished the game last night on normal mode. This game has quite possibly the best ending sequence I've seen in a video game in at least a few years (hint: the credits stop rolling loooooong before the ending sequence content is finished )

Cool, thanks Icemage. Looks like I'm definately going to have to buy this game now. Screw Storm though, she sucks....seriously. Silver Surfer is a pimp though.
Man, I really wish they'd do one of these games with Cable.

Storm does NOT suck in this game. She's really weak in the early game, but I added her to my team for the end game and she absolutely owned everything with her weather powers due to her ability to stun whole screenfulls of enemies with lightning.

P.S. Cable appears in the fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

If you have a choice, do yourself a favor and do NOT get this for Wii. The controls they tacked on are HORRID. Trust me, this is $50 I wish I didn't spend. I did go and buy it on 360 later on as well. The online mode is nice, but needs improvements (no joining mid game, can't use own built up characters, one person disconnects, EVERYONE disconnects).

That's cool that she's good towards the end of the game, I just have a special place in my heart where I just hate Storm. Never cared for her in the comics, then the crap Halley Berry pulled on the X-men movies just pushed it over the edge.
How good are Silver Surfer, Spiderman, and Ironman?
Seriously, I'm going tonight to buy this game.

I've been considering this game, and keep thinking "a lotta comic games just really stink. Spider-Man can't save them all." Perhaps I'll try it out first and then buy it.

And thanks to whom ever said do not get this for the Wii. I was looking at games out for the Wii, and thought about getting one in two or three weeks. This was one of the games I was considering. Now I know to grab it on another system.

NP, I love the Wii, but this game is crap on it.

My fav Wii Games so far are Wii Sports, Zelda (who saw that coming?), and Rayman. Monkey Ball is decent, and Excite Truck is good if you like racing games like Rush.

                        Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

This game sucks reportedly on Wii. So many of the moves require Wiimote actions, and you have to repeat them constantly so it turns from being interesting to being an absolute chore. It was for this reason that I bought the PS3 version.

I'm very happy with the PS3 version. Comfortable controls, amazing graphics, and rock-solid performance from the hardware no matter how many enemies are in play (i.e literally a dozen superhero/villains on-screen using special powers at the same time and zero impact on game speed).

                        Re: tdh
Most comic games do suck. This game does not. Tons of replayability, secret easter eggs galore. Even the quest conversations are customized. If you talk to a character/NPC/villain that your character "knows", they get their own side conversation to go with it. For instance, you fight Scorpion in one of the early boss battles; he has a lot of history with Spiderman, so they actually trade barbs before the fight if Spiderman is present in your party. How cool is that?

Spider-Man is really good - easily one of the most well-rounded heroes in the roster. He's got a useful trait (Might, which lets him lift and move really heavy objects), great defensive and support powers. His only drawback is that his Xtreme power (think of it like a WS in FFXI) isn't very useful, as it only hits humanoid non-bosses.

Iron Man does good damage, but is burns through Energy in a hurry, and doesn't have the energy regeneration to keep up with his usage full-time when you're controlling him. You really have to work on his Focus stat (which governs max Energy and recovery) in order to make him playable IMO. Assuming you do so, however, he's got really good crowd control skills and a solid Xtreme power that does good damage to most enemies.

Silver Surfer I have no idea about since I have yet to unlock him. Still trying to do so - I still need to find a few more simulator discs and complete them to unlock him. Considering the work you have to go through to unlock him, though, I'd hope he's pretty good.

EDIT: According to the character FAQ at GameFAQs he looks pretty good, as he's one of only two characters that can actually heal your party - the other being Spider-Woman. This isn't such a huge ridiculous deal in reality, since health orbs generally drop like candy, but it's certainly a nice power to have in a pinch.
