FF XII, ESRB warnings

    FF XII, ESRB warnings

    I got FFXII this Christmas from my wife. It was a very welcome gift, as I was very much looking forward to this game. Ever since a very big surprise with God of War, I've been making sure to check the ESRB rating and accompanying warnings on the back of games. I was a little surprised when I read the ESRB rating on the back and saw a warning for "partial nudity".

    Partial nudity for a game that's still rated T (for teens)? Can anyone shed light on what exactly in the game warrants this kind of warning on the back of the game?

    umm... Probably the custume designs show quite a bit of flesh. But not that much to call it nudity imo.

      Nudity? Where? oO

      The only thing that might qualify is Fran's somewhat revealing Michelle-Pfeiffer-Catwoman-esque leather suit?

      I've played through the whole game, never saw anything overtly sexual in nature - less so than any other Final Fantasy title, in fact, since XII's storyline is much less romantically charged than any of the predecessors.

        My favorite rating criteria included in ESRB ratings has to be "Comic Mischief." Like that is somehow crude or adult in anyway.

        The first game I saw that on? FFV reissue on the PS1. I was expecting a damn laugh riot because of the seemingly copious amount of mischief...

          There's no real nudity in the game. There is however some slightly visible boobs that appear through a girl's shirt, the one that escorts Al-Cid at Mt. Bur Omnisace, atleast to me that's what they might have been. It was pretty vague.

            The Vera Fran or the "Foxy ladies" lol double meaning in that! but they do wear thongs and a very see thru loin cloth...i would consider that partial nudity...heres a pic

                  Well, you really don't see boobs...I don't know. If they were, they were hard enough to see that I don't think anybody would pick up on it.

                    I think it is more the fact to cover their own asses in case some overly frigid parent decides to sue SE for not warning about it...

                      Indeed. I've played through most of the game and have yet to see any breasts, or anything that would anger the average soccer mom. I wanted to get this game for my younger brothers, and wanted to make sure my mom wouldn't hop on a plane to come kill me. The rating seems like a mistake to me. Maybe the ESRB guys just decided to throw it on there for laughs.

                            Partial nudity isn't showing naked breasts or anything, it means skimpy and revealing clothing. Or to be more specific french cut bottoms and thongs and such. Fran *is* the partial nudity. It's just an overprotective, totally unnessacary warning to state that there's a female showing her hips and ass cheeks.
