Re: Nintendo Tries to Rein in the ‘Whee!’ of Its Wii

Well the Wii does target a much broader audience, some of whom might not have been avid gamers like ourselves. The way the Wii controller mimics real life motions might confuse people who already have muscle memory related to throwing a ball. Being a hardcore nerd, I have no sports-related memory to confuse myself with.

Still that doesn't make Nintendo responsible in any way for people who don't use the hardware properly, i.e. let go.

Kinda off topic, but also about morons and the Wii. Did anyone hear about the guy who camped out for a Wii (or was it a PS3, I can't recall), there was some clerical error by the person assigning numbers when they opened and he didn't get one. Now he's sueing Walmart for 90k.

I suppose I could understand loosening your grip at inopportune times, but people are complaining about the strap failing at the same time the wiimote is flying into and puting a hole in their television. Thats some freakin' lateral force. That would have to be one hell of a strap to restrain that kind of speed. I'm surprised their haven't been more stories of people walking by people playing these games and being injured by spastic gamers.

90k for not getting a Wii on opening day? How does one justify that?

They "owed him one". Thing is he has absolutely no case whatsoever. There was no contract, written or otherwise, that stated if you camped out and waited for one, that you'd get one. He never payed any money for one or anything. Basically, some poor girl made a mistake and he's trying to get money for it. Everything thats wrong with this country, yada yada yada. I'm sure they'll just give him a free one next batch and he'll go back to his normal life of being a prick and deserving handouts.

I went through and read damn near all those posts on that site and was just surprised. Somebody actually managed to lodge their Wii-mote in the paneling of their TV. That was enough force to crack the paneling and wedge the damn Wii-mote in it.

I just don't see there being enough force to do this from just playing a game. Even if you were ACTUALLY bowling you wouldn't have needed that much force to throw the ball.
