  • Vanguard Online.

What do you guys think of it?? I've been on the beta for a few weeks now. My guild from WoW got on the beta and being part i got a beta pass.

    Story line...Ehh
    playable races...tons of choices
    mounts...FUN!!

all i can say is it resembles Oblivion in 3rd person view.

I got in beta? This game got a lot of hype, tons of my friends are excited about it.

I want to try it out too but I don't feel like paying for it until I'm sure it's the game for me. I bought too many online games that only last me a week or two.... Lineage 2, city of heroes, EQ2 for example.

      Re: Vanguard Online.

I got invited to Beta 3 a few days ago. I thought that was odd so I checked... and they'd been in Beta 4 for a month or so on the day I got that email. I was still able to register and download the beta 4 client. 24 hours downloading! And I just barely meet the minimum system requirements so I haven't been able to get the game to run long enough to actually do any testing.

You guys understand the concept of an NDA right and the actions that can be taken against you for breaking it?

Yep. Worst they'd actually do is take away my (unusable) beta access. People state they've been invited all the time even on the public official forums and never get punished for it that I've heard. It's not like I've given away any details of the game, posted screenshots. or tried to give away or sell my account.

Are they really that hardnosed about it? Crap, even the CIA lets you tell people you work for them for most jobs. I thought the NDA just wouldn't let you discuss game mechanics, show ss's, or maybe a few other things like that. I figured they'd want a certain amount of people saying they were in the beta and that they were enjoying it. Atleast start a little good word of mouth advertising early on.

They don't want you telling people you are in beta but they don't really enforce that as far as I've seen. Actual leaks; lore, mechanics, screenshots, videos; get punished. Maybe saying "my PoS computer can't handle Vanguard" is enough to get me kicked, but it's not like I'd upgrade just to beta test.

My video card wasn't even on the list of cards when I filled out the registration.

                  Re: Vanguard Online.

The graphics look terrible, and the art style makes it look like an EQ clone. It makes me appreciate the Warcraft style. It seems like all the good MMOs are here or gone, and we can really only expect the same quality from the same companies. All these new MMOs coming out are going to have an extremely difficult time competing for subscribers.

OT: Check out the MMORPG.com website, FFXI and WoW aren't even on the list of top MMOs anymore. EVE is still at the top, but Guild Wars and EQ2 now follow. I don't think the list is an accurate representation of reality.

I think perhaps you are looking at the wrong section... and have you played Vanguard? How do you know if its good or not? And what do you mean same qualities from the same developers? This is Sigil's first game and a lot of things will be different EQ.

                      Re: Vanguard Online.

They were the original dev team of EQ, that's their biggest selling point. Most people exciting about Vanguard were EQ players. You can more or less expect the game to be in the same direction.

Same direction? Only if you consider FFXI and EQ going in the same direction.

Wiki has had a bunch of info on Vanguard since original beta opening. has the whole story plot, playable chars, races, jobs. Still hasn't been taken off...the only thing they are worry about is SS's.

Any released from Sigil itself isn't against the NDA.
