    Re: More PS3 problems

If anyone expected to see 100% backwards compatibility from day one, they have serious issues.

I'm quite glad to hear that it's only about a 2-5% loss from complete backwards compatibility, and that Sony will fix these with firmware updates. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they'll even make Final Fantasy XI playable on PS3.

Hardware issues are nonexistant so far, and that's what matters...so if you're looking to get a kick out of any minor problems with the PS3 launch, tough luck.

      Re: More PS3 problems

FUD...really journalism, is it because everyone wants to stick a ps3 "please read" on their site?

Most of them are insanely minor like Suikoden 3 not being able to access PS1 memory save(so you can get an extra play script).

      Or ffxi..which doesn't work on ps2slim anyway.

How about GT4 that *sometimes* slows down during the intro demo(anyone see that? anymore)

        Re: More PS3 problems

No hardware issues of course meaning post-ship right?

As far as the compatability issues, I'm sure it will be fixed long before I can afford one. The PS3 isn't a priority for me anyway right now. Thanks to FFXI, I have a knee-high stack of games left to play on my PS2. >.>

          Re: More PS3 problems

The rest are all minor issues involving the sound not performing properly during FMV sequences. A very small number of games are unplayable, and for good reasons (FFXI, Nobunaga's Ambition Online, Guitar Hero I/II).

In addition, the reports stating "over 200" games "unplayable" on PS3 includes both standard and Greatest Hits versions. Personally I believe Sony's gone above and beyond with over 7,000 games perfectly playable on the PS3, and any remaining problems will be fixed up quickly. There were quite a few titles unplayable before launch, but they were fixed with the Firmware 1.10 update.

As for FUD...with PS3 being as insanely popular as it is (whether you love it or hate it), any news regarding it will get your website hits. What gets you more hits? Negative news.

Unfortunately for actual fans of PS3 like me, this isn't going to stop any time soon.

              Re: More PS3 problems

Didn't they already announced they'll release new version of firmware soon? One that will be able to play FFXI from PS2 too. Shouldn's be a problem if it's flexible enough to upgrade from internet like I heard.

                Re: More PS3 problems

The Version 1.10 update fixed a handful of problematic games on launch day. Sony is prepping another update before the end of the year for the release of downloadable PSone games, so I would imagine they will fix a few more BC games at that time.

It's not a problem, and honestly I'm quite happy that this is the biggest complaint coming out of the PS3 launch besides shipment numbers.

                  Re: More PS3 problems

People are already lined up for the PS3 in my area, but the hype just doesn't seem to be there like it's been for the Xbox and Xbox 360.

                    Re: More PS3 problems

I'm surprised the Microsoft fanboys haven't jumped all over this. Not that there's anything to make noise about, considering the 360 has about the same number of titles (~200) that can be backwards compatible with the 360, and all of those require a download from Xbox Live!.

PS3's on my list of things to hunt for next week. (Unlike previous years, I do believe I'll get myself 2 X-mas presents in the form of a PS3 and a Wii :D )

                      Re: More PS3 problems

ill introduce a rough summary of the xbox fanboy response for this post then much like any fanboy response to anything that opposes their "one loved system" it goes like this

<large amount of explicits and retarded comments>

                      that sums it up :x

but ya only problem that the ps3 has thats going to be noticeable to how many sell is that there is a limited amount that can sell cant sell more then 100% and with preorder i think about 40% have been sold already other 60% are in stores that dont preorder. also the way bakcwards compatibility works, would prevent 100% backwards compatibility because ps3 is emulating a ps2, its not a ps2 on steroids thus it wouldn't be able to do 100% of the stuff ps2 can do.
i think someone mentioned guitar hero which is a controller difference.

                            Re: More PS3 problems

Y'know, I don't think anybody in my area even did pre-orders for PS3 or Wii. When PS2 came out, I had mine paid off 6 months before it was released. I walked in to the mall at 9:05 A.M. and by 9:20 I was putting in my first game at home, ready to play.

Personally I don't think the backwards compat. is that big a selling point. But I know it is for some people. I mean how many of us are going to just get rid of our PS2s because PS3 will play our full library at some point or another? I still have my PSOne. (It's sitting on my desk nex to my monitor. PSOne with the monitor bundle they did was genius.)

The real problem with the PS3 right now.
Two days worth of playstation 3 sales data via Media Create. (well ok via Kotaku)
                              Total Hardware Sales: 81,639
                              PlayStation 3 60 GB: 45,774
                              PlayStation 3 20 GB: 35,865

                              Ridge Racer 7: 21,654
Mobile Suit Gundam: Target In Sight: 21,309
                              Resistance: Fall of Man: 13,545
Genji: Days of the Blade: 8,766
                              Sega Golf Club: 1,410

66,684 games sold alongside 81,639 consoles Good job Sony.

Currently the only enjoyment I'm getting out of the next generation systems, both Microsoft and Sony are losing huge sums of money.
But really I hope Nintendo sells a huge amount of units due to I'm sick of the way both Microsoft and Sony have chosen to launch there respective systems.

Microsoft Quality control: What, Me worry?
                              Sony one compound word: Betamax.

Ok I'm done ranting/venting. (For now)
