I'm just curious, the website makes it seem awesome, but then again that's what it's supposed to do. The graphics look insane. And there seems to be so many different combo.s for your characters playing style. Is it any good? Pros and Cons? And most important.... does anyone still play it?!?

Re: Lineage 2: How is it?
The grind in L2 is worse than in FFXI, but for some reason a lot of people have tolerated it. When I played it the game really lacked any kind of direction, and battles along with the landscaping become too repetitive for my tastes. The most fun I've ever had in the game was when the AI crashed and a friend and I trucked through a dungeon of unresponsive monsters and trashed the place.
The job progression seems interesting at first, but there's a lot more work involved than you'd think.

Re: Lineage 2: How is it?
I played EQ2 for a few months at launch, but they've changed the game so much since then that I couldn't possibly tell you what it's like now.
They do have a free trial you can download though if you want to check it out.

Re: Lineage 2: How is it?
Lineage 2 does have some good graphics. When I had played it the graphics at that time was able to put some of FFXI's graphics to shame. Though the expansions on FFXI have convered that, so both are beautiful worlds.
The job system there is pretty direct not as complex as FFXIs. The story has never had any huge direction, it's an Open End RPG meaning it leaves a lot of it to the players imagination to RPG out a situation with a result. It was even stated by the developers they were trying not to control the players direction so they could basically do and play how they choose. Proof of this was the fact that players were able to control a regions pricing on goods and taxes if they had control of that region's castle. You could say Lineage II is like a glorified Monopoly type based game.
The one thing that was once a big focuse of Lineage II was the fact that along with all the other gear it included underwear slots as well as graphics for those underwear when worn. The player model's attention to detail is pretty insaine, you wear an earring and the model will have that earring model on it. Wear different necklaces and the same there. Same with wearing the various underwears, and any other slots.
Don't know were this talk of the EXP grind being so hard comes from. Unlike FFXI or even EQ you are able to train a massive group of mobs and with either AoE DoTs or just Massive AoE damage you can kill a large number of mobs in a short time. I use to train some 50+ ghosts in a circle and just pop AoE damage on them. Didn't take long to reach lv. 50.
The issue however that does frequently hinder your exp on the US servers of Lineage II is that everyone there way to frequently goes into massive PvP fights. You could be in the middle of a quest going down a dungeon and suddenly find yourself in a PvP fight were everyone is just destroying eachother. When the dust clears many people have lost EXP and most forgotten what they were doing for the quest.
Sadly Lineage II was a game that relied to much on players to actually be curtious with one another, and proves how horrible a PvP focused game can spiral out of control when you got players that are not curtious. It's a good MMO in my book as long as you don't the play the US Servers.Last edited by Macht; 11-08-2006, 03:18 PM.
