  • Gears of War

My roommate just bought this game last night for the 360. I like it because you can play a co-op mode. Its alot of fun with some cool enemies. So far we have made it to the 2nd act and there is 0 story. All I know is that something bad happened and everybody is on steroids. If you like these games, then I would suggest checking it out.
    Thanks Kazuki.

If there's no story I'm guessing it should have been made strickly for multiplayer online deathmatches.

That game looks hot. From the gameplay footage I've seen it kinda reminds me of Brothers in Arms only with bigger guns and smaller squads. One guy stays behind cover and keeps the bad guys' heads down while another guy goes around the side and hits them where they're vulnerable. The trailer had some huge monsters in it, so I'm hoping later parts of the game feature tactical battles against that type of enemy too. Very cool if so. And of course, the graphics are extremely pretty. Too bad for me I really don't want to buy a 360. ><

I've been following GoW extensively since it's come on the scene and I can tell you this is highly inaccurate. From all the tidbits CliffyB has let out and the recent reviews from our fave online rating sites, "IGN, 1up, Gamestop, etc." I can tell you the storyline for this game is truly awesome. Atmosphere and writing has been a focus of the team creating it and from what I've seen so far, they haven't disappointed.

The gameplay is very nice. Cool weaponry and as I mentioned, even cooler enemies. I am sure the storyline will develop soon but if you are just playing and have not read anything, there are a lot of names that that you will not know.

Taking cover is a must in this game. The AI is incredibly accurate. They will flank your position is you in one spot. I will give a little more insight when I get off work and play for a few more hours tonight.
            Thanks Kazuki.

              Re: Gears of War

I have never been a fan of FPS or shooter games so I've had very little interest in GoW.

The recent ad however, makes me at least want to try it out if not buy it.

The only thing that made me laugh about the game is the total rip off of the movie Pitch Black. At one point in the game the sun goes down and guess what, you have to stay in the light or these flying things will kill you.

This game is pretty intense. You don't just run straight and kill things in front of you. They come at you from all angles and you find yourself back tracking a lot.

Best parts of the game are still the co-op mode and enemies.
                Thanks Kazuki.

                  Re: Gears of War

It's not going to win any awards in the field of storytelling, but it's an excellent game.

I don't own a 360 yet and have had 0 interest in purchasing one until Blue Dragon is released, but Gears of War is certainly tempting me to do so earlier. My friend and I picked it up yesterday and we played pretty much nonstop for 6 hours and I have to say the game is a blast.

I've always loved Epic's games but I honestly expected much less from their first console-based game, but god was I proven wrong. The game looks simply remarkable, and while the controls were a little complicated at first, it was just nonstop excitement after the learning curve was overcome.
