    Re: FF12 first impressions

Now that you mentioned Han Solo, I kinda see it.
You first thought at seeing the Strahl wasn't "Millennium Falcon!"? The cockpit looks almost exactly the same, but with more cranks than buttons.

Balthier is sort of a typical rogue/treasure hunter kind of guy, but he's still fun to watch. And guns will always be cool.

errr nope I didn't think of Millenium Falcon at all. They both have that pizza shape... but Falcon got a very serious looking >.> While Strahl looks kinda candy-ish.

Gamefaqs has some decent ones, but they're all based off the JP version that hit in March

            Re: FF12 first impressions

I just got the game today and I was surprised how it kinda differed from other FF games...

I can't really explain it, I mean I kno that the battle sysytem is new (well not really since its like FFXI without the keyboard and macros), but the feel is kinda different from the others. However this isn't a bad thing, as it actually kept FF from being stale, which I enjoy greatly.

I've only gotten to Giza Plains with Vaan and Penelo, but I already have fell in love with the game. The new license system to give characters the ability to equip all kinds of weapons and spells is really refreshing from other FF games which restricted characters to equiping one/two types of weapons.

But I'm really looking forward to the Espers, despite Ifrit/Shiva/Bahamut not being available anymore, the return of Famfrit and Chaos is just as rewarding.

Well, it looks like I'll be taking a break from FFXI for awhile

              Re: FF12 first impressions

Everything feels much more streamlined. It retains traditional RPG aspects but kinda pushes forward to the next-generation.

After playing FFXII, traditonal turn-based RPGs are gonna feel quite dated, so it's good to see next-gen RPGs like White Knight Story being heavily influenced by FFXII's mock-realtime battle system.

                  Re: FF12 first impressions

It starts to feel like Starwars KOTR after a while IMO @@; The battle's so fast and automatic it's like playing Diablo of some sort. Except for boss fight which can always be hard.... Almost lost a couple fights >.>

                      Re: FF12 first impressions

I'm personally in love with FFXII as well At first, I didn't quite get why people were takling about Gambits making battles more strategized and easier, but at the time, I didn't know that they had as many conditions as there are!

The game is awesome, graphics are awesome, music and story are awesome, it's just so good. I really like these characters as well, and I'm still only like 12~ hours in...I can't wait to get home to play it some more. x_x

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

I'd say it's has a way more fleshed out plot than most of the FF's released in the last 5-6 years. It's also easy to understand, dark and compeling, and smartly paced. Unlike all the others that followed the tired old. First it's this guy who you think is the bad guy, and there's this chick that sort of likes you, then you find out who the real bad guy is, and your in love with this chick, enter ambiguous romance ending. Hmm 7, 8, 9, 10 all 4 with the same plot chemistry. Yah, I got bored of it.

Is it me or do I lose to every boss atleast once, before I finally figure out a good gambit strategy. Any else loving this challenge? I know I am.
I think the bosses are cheap, they kill you like when you almost kill them. I am on a boss in the henneh mines. Timate is fricken hard...I always get to like 3000 HP left on him...then it uses breath kills 2 people then he disables the rest of them from attacking then kills them...I am like wtf? I cant beat the damn thing!!! tried 5 times and different things every time...it does like 200-500 damage per hit, and my characters dont even have 1000 HP yet accept Vaan.
