    Re: FF12 first impressions

I'm loving the challenge too but I almost wish there was a New Game+ option to just go back and blitz through the game just for the story Maybe it's just me though. You also definitely feel the pinch of gil and needing to get more LP; personally I think the gil thing is a welcome thing because it really gives you the feeling that you're somewhat impoverished, instead of 'starting your adventure' and suddenly going from stranded orphan to rolling in riches. In that sense it's almost like a story element.

I agree that the way the story is given to you is different; if you go through just the cutscenes without taking the time to immerse yourself in the cities and places around you it's different... I dunno, talking to people around town, looking at all the detail, really gives the world a greater feel. Instead of just being led by the nose you have to put yourself in the shoes of the characters to get more out of it... but maybe that's just me ;p

I spent 30-40 minutes grinding in Lhusu mines and then promptly took a wrong turn and got beaten up bad by the boss later XD

Ya, I hunted skelentons for the better part of a hour, got chain 120+ then I realised I had 99 bone chips and I just wasted the last 20 or so kills. When the chain gets that high and the mobs start droping HP they kinda remind me of the HP statues from Dynamis.

No Ifs Ands or Buts about it.

why we gotta do all this Vaan bashing?

On a very serious note, is there no dual wield in this game?
"how broken everything about ToAU is."
"Do you have Haruhi in your daily anime diet?"
"ok... I've quit 5 times... and failed each time miserably... they need a patch for FFXI like those nicotine ones...."

So far everyone told me no, no dual wield.
I'm looking through license list atm.
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

I've been playing for awhile and I'll tell you guys this......save for quickenings. Get them all. If you do them right, you can get a bosses health down to nothing in one fell swoop.

If you get the Brady Help Guide, it has a pullout poster type that has the entire License Layout. Remember that the layout is the same for everyone. However; Quickenings and Espers are single person only. Once one person grabs that square, no one else can get a Quickening from that square. They can still get something from it, just not the quickening.

They actually make good guides for non-MMO games lol

We bought the CE version though so I may get the 'NQ' after I run through the game once for research ect so I don't trash the CE version

I got the Collector's Edition. Surprisingly, it is really nice. You get 2 books, 1 is an art book that shows a lot of what is in the game. The other is a fairly well written guide. Though I have only used it to explain a few things I couldn't figure out. Mainly, how to use Quickenings, what is the bazaar, and to peak at what I missed.
Also, they have a very good section on Gamibits and different ways to use them.
