Re: Star Trek Online
Last night I ran across the captain of the U.S.S. Pornstar. I wanted to be annoyed because all the other ships I've run across have had cool names that could conceivably be the names of naval vessels but I just had to sigh and roll my eyes at the inevitable. At least .. it has "star" in the name?
Shortly afterward I got into an awesome fight. I suppose I flew out farther into space than a Lieutenant should and found myself in a duel with a Klingon ship three levels higher than me. With my practically baseline ship I couldn't make headway against its shields without redirecting full power to weapons, but I couldn't keep my hull safe without redirecting full power to shields. So it became this elaborate dance where I would go full offense to try to punch through his shields and get a photon torpedo in before my own shields failed while flying in curves to keep my strongest shield facing him, then going full turtle to replenish my shields while trying to keep pressure on his lowest shield with my weakened weapons so I wouldn't have to start over from scratch when I recuperated. I got its hull integrity under 20% before some Lt. Commanders warped in and started kicking ass, but I was pretty proud at holding off a stronger enemy for so long. Sure am glad the one upgrade I got so far was regenerative shielding. ^^d

Re: Star Trek Online
I am often in awe of and humored by the extent that the Star Trek Universe has been documented.
Here's he info from Mhurron's link for anyone that might not be able to view the page.
The SS Urusei Yatsura was a 22nd century Earth DY-430 class starship commanded by Captain David Glink.
In 2146, the Urusei Yatsura was launched from the Sol star system to conduct a nebula survey project.
This vessel was among the list of ships that appeared on Captain Jean-Luc Picard's desktop monitor while he searched for "all Earth deep-space launches from 2123 until 2190 with destination in or near the Ficus sector" during an investigation of an SOS signal discovered in that sector in 2365. This vessel, however, did not fall within the parameters of his search, but was among the ships launched in that timeframe. (TNG: "Up The Long Ladder")
DY-type starships:
DY-100 class: SS Botany Bay
DY-245: SS Hatteras • DY-430: SS Urusei Yatsura
DY-500: SS Mariposa • SS Hokule'a (DY-500-B) • HMS Lord Nelson (DY-500-C)
DY-732: HMS New Zealand • VK Yuri Gagarin
DY-950: DEV Eagle Valley • DY-1200: VK Velikan"All of the biggest technological inventions created by man - the airplane, the automobile, the computer - says little about his intelligence, but speaks volumes about his laziness." - Mark Kennedy
