  • The End of E3??

    http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/30/e3...ar-and-beyond/

I found this very interesting, and rather sad. I can understand how hectic E3 can be, and this would probably a good economic choice, but I always loved the big just mindblowing amount of information that came out of E3.

Some companies make their MAJOR announcements outside of E3. If I remember correctly, last year, EA had an event of their own at The Roxy club in Hollywood.

I read about it in Gamespy (although now I kinda hate that site because of how biased they are towards WoW )

It seems like E3's power has fallen (dramastically? thanks to that pet peeves thread for teaching me that word) drastically in the last few years.

There was a time when you would get tons of great and exclusive info and videos out of E3, but lately most companies do their anouncements somewhere else like Eohmer pointed out.

      Implosion time.

I don't miss it. I think people who do are ones who can afford to go or have a popular enough website to get press passes.

It's really a drain on developer resources, with stories that it takes like a month out of the development team on a demo for E3 which would be all but thrown away later.
