Got this from one of my friends, but I decided to touch it up a bit since her version contained many spelling mistakes, and poor grammar. I haven't vindicated them, so I was hoping you guys could. =D Even if you can't, I hope you guys enjoy!
- Cecil's (FF4) last name was Harvey
- Zemus and Zeromus (FF4) are demonic warlord gods that were imprisoned in Earth and nuked with bombs, billions of years ago, in the religion known as Scientology.
- The Dark Mage Exdeath (FF5) was just two words thrown together? Originally it was "exceeding death."
- Gogo (FF5/FF6) was named after the Ebu Gogo people of Indonesia who are infamous for mimicking the words of a speaker in a parrot-like fashion.
- Cyan (FF6) was really named Cayenne in the Japanese version. I guess thats why all the girls thought he was hot for a middle aged guy.
- Edgar (FF6) was given his name from the Teutonic Language. Edgar stood for "Man of Fortune."
- Edgar's middle name was Roni
- Kefka (FF6) was obviously named after Frank Kafka. I guess we can say it's truly Kefka-esque, now can't we?
- Sabin's (FF6) middle name was Rene
- Jenova (FF7) means "new god" in Hebrew.
- Caith Sith (FF7) means "Fat Cat" in Gaelic.
- Lucrecia (FF7) was named after the Etruscan woman who was raped by Ares in Roman Mythology. She gave birth to Romulus and Remus as a result. She dies horribly later on in the story because of the rape. It's tragic, and fitting for Vincent's unfortunate lover.
- Rufus (FF7) is latin for "The red one"
- Reno (FF7) is latin for "Pimp"
- Don Corneo (FF7) is a joke name. Corneo is latin for "Horn", use your imagination for the rest.
- Sephiroth (FF7) is actually a name with no real meaning, but was made up instead of Hebrew numerical values instead? Kind of like my name (Dairuka), just mine doesn't go by the Hebrew system. =D
- Edea (FF8) is made up of two words? Eden (Paradise) and Dea which is latin for Goddess.
- Fujin and Raijin (FF8) are painfully obvious. Wind God, Thunder God... how hard was that one?
- Laguna (FF8) is also painfully obvious. Ragnarok in Japanese is spelled Lagunaroku.
- Cinna (FF9) had an origin from Shakespeare's play, "Julius Caeser."
- Freya (FF9) is pretty damn obvious huh? Shes a Norse goddess.
