What is your favorite Final Fantasy game?

Alrighty. Out of a spark of curiousity, I'd like to see which final fantasy games you guys like the most.

To familiarize yourself with the many ff games that have been produced, I'll state a few characters from each game.

1-fighter, black mage, black wizard...
2-Frionel, Maria.....
3-Sara, Cid, Desh...
4-Cecil, Cid, Edge...
5-Bartz, Reina, Galuf....
6-Terra, Locke, Edgar....
7-Cloud, Barrett, Tifa...

10- Tidus, Yuna, Auron.....

It will always be FFIV for me. It was the game that truly made me fall in love with the series.

I myself voted for VI. That game had to have been one of the best gameplay experiences I have ever encountered.

explain to me how people voting for FF7...are considered FANBOYS when.... someone who votes for any others..are not. Do explain this... I voted for 7 because I like the cast, the villain, the storyline, and it was the first FF I played in 3D. I liked the rest as well. 6 was very very close to 7 BUT...

i took into account the fact that 7 was the first of its kind at the time and also stepped over a lot of bounderies for its time so... because of all of those. I voted 7 instead. So, having said that.... Explain to me how everyone who voted for 7, is considered a fanboy and yet.... people who vote for others are not. The way I see it, the general public are biased in opinion simply because of the fact that it was not "old-school like", which I find funny because by todays standards...it is. So, while a lot of people may think 7 is best in the series, they will vote for 6 because they feel like they shouldnt vote for the newer game that is considered "fanboy type"

I am not a fanboy by anymeans, and as a matter of fact... Final Fantasy isnt my favorite, or even anything made by Square-enix is my favorite game "OMG Blasphemy KILL HIM" It's a game that 90% have never heard of, and only just recently may have, but that only 10% are "oldschool" enough to have ever owned WITHOUT an emulator or GBA, and that would be the Shining Force Series.
Although not your typical RPG (walk around like FF6, fight like FFT) to ME, it was more FUN than most of the FF series. I didnt say the story, villains, or characters were better... but those games sure were way more fun to me.
Okay slightly off-topic but anyways, my point is, this "Fanboy" Excuse for FF7 doing so well in votes, is getting old. It does well in votes because .... MORE people like it.. and thats it.

The reason a lot of people feel that way is because there is a large percentage of FF fans for whom 7 was their first game in the series. They may have played the earlier ones after, but since they use 2d graphics and sprites, most folks overlook the quality of the story and gameplay because it's not 3D.

That's not everyone, of course, but it's a lot of folks. Particularly younger ones.

I just didn't think 7 was all that great.

well i have always been a huge FF fan, and found it quite hard to choose what one was my favorite. But after a few minutes of consideration i choose VIII with VII right behind with a very close second.
