From the short vid, FFXIII does make me feel it has a Phantasy Starish feel to it. The futuristic stuff, the menus, the fighting,.....I just looked at my son and he nodded to me and we both said "Phantasy Star".

But clear this up for me because I am confuzzled! Ok....the short piece of tech demo that we saw at the last E3 was recently touted as the next FF MMO, right? Wasn't it said that the tech demo they showed was FFXIII? So is FXIII going to be a MMO? It didn't look like a MMO though.... Someone figure this out for me before I strain my old moldie brain cells!

Lol, watched the video again. Didn't realize the first time through that the weapon she used switched out to a blade, so she's like got a newer version of a gun blade...

Very nice graphics, at that quality it would be REALLY awsome to see one like FFVI brought to that graphic level. Even FFVII would be awsome to see, damn can't wait for the PS3 and these new games why'd I have to look here and see this stuff again

I kind of get the feeling that SE is picking up the slack on PS3. Really hoping that PS3 doesn't suck.

Nah, SE is just such one of the 'super powers' of sorts in the gaming industry so any console developers would have to be brain dead to not try and capitalize on them. Make nagotiations and what not to get SE to develop more for them, SE is more like the popular guy/girl that the girl(s)/guy(s) will come to fist fights try and win them as theirs.

They are just a major power house that currently has strong influences to make or break consoles.

Hmm...sorry....I guess I didn't explain it too well or maybe I've confused some points. I just remember it being said that the tech demo from E3 2005 was a brief showing of the new FF MMO. I thought they said it was FFXIII. Was I wrong?

I swear all this info is going to make my head explode and this migraine I still have from the UPS man smacking me with a package isn't helping!

PS3 doesn't suck, it has many other adj, and un- adjs but Sony PS series was and still is #1

It's also very high on the Asian list.

SE has as much to gain being on PS3 as the PS3 gain on FF13. It is dividing up it's time with Wii, which also had some SE titles, and looks to be leaving 360 on hold after seeing their launch.

Which makes sense since SE's first market is Japan, and Japan has pretty much left 360 in it's dust.

And finally Sony is also a media publisher, which SE wants a stake in. FFVII AC proved that.

There may not be much love between the two at times, but the sex is great so they say.

I like the new gunblade. Now that's what a gunblade should be like. Not like click for fireworks. Now we just need th effeminate male lead.

BTW doesn't the heroine look like Yuna +Riku+Pain...did someone have a enlightment staring at x2 too long? She's gotta be hot, she gotta be perky, and she's got to be badass. Waa-la. YuRiPa

Seriously you go with 11+ stories and bound that someone won't like 1 of them. Going to put that down against Mario/Zelda? There are some Mario/Zelda ones that were a little disapointment for me like some FF ones were, not going to hold a few bad ones against so many good ones that were made.

I like 10 over 9 heck 9 is pretty gone through the wind in my mind.

People have different opinions, that's the point, between good games.

I had some pretty duh zeldas too and mario...omg there's so many spin-offs, you have to hate maybe 20% of it out of shear norma-ness.

Doesn't stop you from looking forward to the next one.

SE and ff series is riding on good waves though. FFXII seems to be a massive hit so far, and a good time to say, "here's the next".

Has there been a confirmed plot to FFXIII yet, or is the screenies SE released all we've gotten so far?

Also, I think FFVII & Xenogears (Not saga, the OG) > FFIX and FFX. Just my opinion though.

The game looks good so far. Seems to be set in a sci-fi futuristic world, which I LOVE. That's what turned me on to FFVII and FFVIII. I like RPGs set in other worlds that could be considered the near-future. I'm hoping you can travel to space in this one, like you could in FFVIII. I just hope it's not all CSs every 15 minutes. That pisses me off in any game >_<

It is to my absolute amazement that PaiPaiMaster has not made a post in this thread about FFXIII only because he is usually my source of information concerning all things related to videogames.

This game looks to be very promising in my opinion but I regret to say that I probably won't be getting a PS3 only because of my monetary limits. I do however plan to mooch off of PaiPai whenever I get the chance to and at least know what it's like to play even if I don't get all the story.

Secondly I am becoming annoyed with so many people thinking something is "emo" if at any point in the story the main character slips into a period of remorse and self-pity. You people firstly need to understand that most of the famous artists, and writers of our time were known to have serious problems. For example Frida Kahlo, Ernest Hemingway, Vincent Van gogh, and Emily Dickerson were all mentally unstable and by today's standards would be considered "emo" by so many people only because it's the trendy thing to label someone.

It is "emo" if you're a a white sub-urbanite teenager that dresses in black, makes their hair look retarded, and tries to find things to whine about. To lump in writers and artists that have actually experienced pain in their life is immature and discriminatory. Sure FFVII was depressing but that was the point, it was a war torn period in the holds of poverty it wasn't supposed to be a Happy Days rerun.

Anyways can't wait to play XIII!!

Yep, emo people are people who whine about problems that aren't that bad.

And yes, PaiPai should be along soon. Whenver a new games come out, he's all over them.

Also, I think SE tends to recycle some character designs. Almost all the main heroes have long hair. Why is that? (Not sure if the guy in the pic is the main hero or not though.)

I don't think it's so much SE as it is a trend among those people in charge of character design for FF as well as a trend among the Japanese people in general. If you take a look at anime there is an obvious trend with the "beautiful" characters having long flowing hair, blonde hair, or both. It is "beautiful" by many culture's standards that a woman with flowing hair is generally sexier but anime takes this to an extreme and I think it's just FF development trying to keep in touch with the popular look of the homogenous society that is Japan.

I mean take a look at the most recent hero from FFX, the clothing and hair style of Tidus wasn't what you would see on any American but the Japanese have been known to dress in a manner considered odd to Americans. It's just their standard for beauty and I really don't mind, it's not all bad.

But hey that's just my theory, if anyone thinks it's wrong they feel free to blow it out of the sky. I'm always up for an intellgient debate
