Ok i was playing on Alexander late last night and caught wind of a conversation going on as i ran through Bastok Mines. Final Fantasy VII remake for PS3 is this true or was this just someone full of BS. I had to ask sorry!!

As far as I know, it's just a rumor. I've never understood the FF fan love for that particular title, but people seem to love them some FFVII.

Well to be honest with you my favorite was FFVIII but i really wouldn't mind seeing what SE could do with FFVII on a new system even the PS2.

There was a technical demo for the PS3 using a remade intro for FFVII, which is, I suspect the reason for the rumor existing at all.

Seriously though, if they were remaking it, it would be all over the internet.

All this rumour business began when Square Enix showed a technical demo of Final Fantasy VII running on the Playstation 3 development hardware a year ago at E3. Square Enix president Youichi Wada made it clear that it was just a demo, and SE had no plans to create an FFVII remake for PS3. Since then, demand for such a game has been through the roof, but until announced otherwise, Wada's announcement still stands as fact.

Tetsuya Nomura has mentioned that he and Square Enix have a major announcement to make at E3 (their press conference is tomorrow). As previously stated by FFVII producer Yoshinori Kitase, Tetsuya Nomura is SE's #1 pick for directing a Final Fantasy VII remake if it ever happened, as he is one of the major driving forces behind Compilation of FFVII and the director of Advent Children (as well as Kingdom Hearts). However, there are also rumours that Tetsuya Nomura is working on Final Fantasy XIII (which is confirmed to be in development by Yoshitaka Amano, who could be doing character designs this time). If Amano is indeed working on character designs for FFXIII and Nomura is involved with the project, chances are he's taking the director's chair (Nomura has stated that he will not begin work on Kingdom Hearts 3 for some time because he is occupied with another game. It's unlikely he would hold off on KH3 unless he was doing more than just character designs, which didn't stop him from working on KH1.)

There's a lot of mystery shrouded in the matter of Square Enix's next game. We know FFXIII is in development, but we don't know if SE is first working on a remake of FFVII for PS3, which we all know would sell like $59.99 candy.
