Re: More confirmation of a remake??

Don't you guys think with an updated engine some of the old scenes could be redone to be more cinematic? Remember the scene where they destroy the first reactor, and the fire shoots out of the door way and one by one they each come flying out? Scenes like these could bring a whole new life to the game if recreated. It could also be extended a bit to fill in a few of the gaps in storyline.

You know, I loved that materia system. But when they said to model it after FFXII's design I could see reason for it. Remember though they said model doesn't mean they take out the materia system or anything, just open the game to a better ATB system.

What it means is just design it so when you select to attack you attack the mob and continue to attack it, not having to select to attack it every time the gauge fills. If you chose to do something else then attack you select that character and choose a spell or what else you want them to do and next time their gauge is full they do that.

I seriously think people are taking it way out of proportion. Materia is part of the whole story to the game, heck it even holds basis in the Movie so no way they can remove that from it. I think more it's just the appearance of how a battle acts, give you a little more of a free roaming camera and stuff to that effect is what my bet would be is what they ment.

Don't forget FFXII's battle system was modeled after FFXI's system yet the demo and all I've played of FFXII didn't have you selecting actions or building macro's like FFXI did, it was mostly the focus that the battle had a greater flow design giving it more of a battle like feel.

Re: More confirmation of a remake??

The cost of FF X-2 was very low (if I remenber, something as $500,000) but a remake of older FF titles means they had to start from nothing and yes, I do know the script and characters are done but the technical part (engine, graphics, sound, music, etc ...) must be done again.

It would actually cost a lot more to make this than a new FF game surely. Think about all the stuff they had in FFVII compared to the more streamlined recent efforts like FFX: A whole mess of mini games(Snowboarding, the motorbike chase, Chocobo Races, etc), the fully explorable world map(both on land and under the ocean), and all the towns/dungeons/side quests that the game had, with added voice acting, all rendered in the visuals seen on the tech demo?

So no, they are not going to do it because as a porting a SNES FF into a GBA does not cost much but it also does not sell much, remakes dont usually sell much and even if rabbid FF VII fanboys will buy it The only people that care about FF VII remake are FF VII fanboys, it could sell mil. of mils. but the cost is a big part.. Its not cheap to make a game..or remake a game..

FFVII is good but not the best.. its going to far..DoC sucked..AC was okay, not the best movie ever..CC and BC, LO and a book..its time to move on

most fans would like to see other ''NEW'' games not FFVII this and that.FFVII is getting old, and I'm getting sick of hearing about it, I loved it but Square needs to move on..This isnt 1997 any more..

a remake would be great, but atm no..just because there just milking it...

People don't like change, thats all it is. We revolt against change. When they hear change they immediately think for the worse. We don't know how much change there will be because there just aren't any details. It could be drastic or it could be incredibly subtle.

What's funny about it though is it's not only Square milking it, they've been pressured for well over 5 years now by the customers wanting more of FFVII. Remake will sell provided you do it on the right media and it's one that a great chance of getting players intrest. A game that examplifies this was "Lunar: SSS" a remake from the Sega Dreamcast to Playstation, the game was #1 in the past in Japan when it first was sold for the Dreamcast. It's remake and release to the US became a great seller and by Japanese fans demands the english remake was imported back out to them and again was among the Top 10.

The remake of "Lunar: SSS" was a spend of a lot of money and recoding the whole thing to get it all to work, the effort payed off for them though. With the players demand though it seems like FFVII could do just as well, that's something though you'd never know without testing and proding around to see. That I think is what Square is doing with adding all this other stuff of relation to FFVII, if the fans really want a remake to spend so much on they'll basically be footing the money by the income those other games related to it make.

With all these rumours flying around keeping fans etc on their toes, its great advertising for SE, and it shows them just how popular the FF series really is with all the magazines talking about it, there was even a slot about the rumour on UK TV when they were reviewing Advent children. whether it is amde or not its still great publicity for SE either way.
