More confirmation of a remake??

I am so behind in my reading but with maintenance today I decided to catch up a bit. I found this interesting tidbit in the May issue of Game Informer magazine on page 25.

Loose Talk

"Last E3, Square Enix made fanboys squeal when it showed how Final Fantasy VII could be remade on the PS3. Of course, the company went to pains to point out how it had no plans to release an updated version of Final Fantasy VII on the system. Rumors have been swirling since day on that the game would indeed come to the PS3, and now Loose Talk has not only heard that those rumors are true, but that the remake will in fact use the battle system from Final Fantasy XII."

Ooooooooooooooooooooooook.........um...................NO! Battle system from FFXII??? WTH ARE THEY THINKING??? People people people....do not mess with something that has already been immortalized. Bad move.....very bad move.... but ya I've been holding to the fact for years that it will come to pass. Just didn't want to see them fiddle with it.

I almost thought that they just WOULDN'T release that because they knew if they changed something they were gonna piss ppl off.

Seriously, wtf? Materia is 60% of the reason that game was so great. Anyone can use any spell.
Update graphics, maybe add just a tich to the story (w/in reason), add voice acting, and you're done. Don't see why they have to overcomplicate this.

The old battle system was encumbersome and slow. A new system similar to FF12 would open up a lot more in terms of gameplay and effects.

This rumour was posted in a magazine (I think it was GameInformer, I might actually have it) with absolutely no source. It's the lowest type of rumour.

In Kingdom Hearts 2 Ultimanium, Tetsuya Nomura stated that he and Square Enix have a big announcement to make at this year's E3. Yoshitaka Amano confirmed that he is working on Final Fantasy XIII. Nomura's announcement is probably either FFXIII (more than likely) or a remake of FFVII (likely, but probably not for a while, especially with FFXIII already confirmed in development).

Pai....um....read the first post? I noted it was from the rumor section of GI.

Like I have stated before, why go through all that trouble to make an expensive tech demo of a game that is being HOTLY pursued by fans to be remade? They did it to stir the fire and see if the interest was still there and when the internet was abuzz afterwards, they got their answer. I will hold to my beliefs that a remake is coming. You can call it woman's intuition because its FAR from fanboyism......I didn't even like FFVII. LOL

what the point of making a game and adding better gfx and VA, FFVII for the psone if fine the way it is.. Some of that tweaking is necessary, I love how ppl make stuff sound so easy..

They will have to change things, it can't be exactly the same otherwise Square-Enix is not going anywhere. Think about every remake you played for a game, it was exactly the same? No

It's what Kitase said, He said that if a FFVII remake project was to ever go into developement, he'd want Nomura to take the role as lead director. That's already a major change so the original FFVII we know and love was directed by Kitase himself. The directorial vision of That game(the classic) was his. Now, putting Nomura in that role would mean we'll see the game through Nomura's eyes. It will be Nomura's version of FFVII. Scenes will play out differently. No, they won't be the same.

So yea theres going to be change, I wish Nomura would stop living in 1997 and try to make newer games..or remakes of older games..FFVII wont happen anyway cost would be to much..

Frankly I think I could careless if they remake it. I mean, is there where they really wanna go for the next generation of games? Remaking games, over and over? In another 10 years, people would want a remake again. It never ends really. Gotta move forward, and stop worrying about them remaking a classic. It's easier for them to remake things in the movie industry, cause they've ran out of ideas, so they always look to the past or other sources to steal a story from. But games however need to stay fresh, or people will lose interest.

Yep, already seen Advent Children on an Import but since it comes out well... today I already had put money down to put a copy on hold for me, and going to get it after work. I thought it was awsome and had to pay my respects to the company by getting a legit copy.
