Your assessment of games has been pretty piss poor in my experience, so you'll excuse me if I sit here and enjoy the hell out of Borderlands before worrying about purchasing the sequel.

I don't see where cid was trying to dictate your choice in games, Mal. He's just saying his tastes don't align with yours, and therefore a recommendation from you means less. That tendency you have of buying games from companies you swear you detest probably doesn't win you any extra brownie points in the respect category either (making excuses about why you did so doesn't mean anything except to imply that you also make excuses).

I don't write off an entire company just because of 1 franchise I don't particularly like - as I've said before, it's not as though they don't keep track of which IPs sell. I'll buy Starcraft and Diablo, but I won't touch WoW or CoD. I only got MW3/BO as gifts for my brother, who let me try them - I haven't ever and still won't buy one for myself. Thankfully, I think he's had it with CoD at this point so yay, less money feeding the beast ><


Capcom is a different story entirely and I haven't bought anything from them in over a year now and unless they change their tune about Mega Man and soon, that's not going to change. My hatred of Ubisoft is primarily against their PC releases, both for the DRM and how they hosed me on HoMM VI in several ways - I refuse to touch the expansion, and quite honestly after the shitfest that was AC3, I'm really not looking forward to Black Flag. I didn't care for their outright dismissal of Feudal Japan and WW2 Europe either for that matter. Watch Dogs is the only thing they have coming right now that has me interested and even that's a little tentative at this point.

Not a video game, but anybody play Android Netrunner? Going to get together with some friends tomorrow to play it. I haven't myself yet so I'm slow to join their bandwagon. Been going over the cards. Sleeving them. Reading the rules. It's a pretty deep game. I can see why they like it.

Find the Activision titles in my PS3 game trophies. You won't find any going back to at least 2010 (and that was a game I didn't buy, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock - it was used in my PS3 for a midnight launch as a favor). My last actual purchase was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009.

I haven't actually been able to rent anything for some time now because all the stores closed down.

Also, again I just don't see the point of boycotting an entire company if you like one product but not another (especially when it's largely a symbolic gesture) - I vote with my wallet by not picking up the crap that pisses me off, excuses my eye. I'm not gonna stop playing Starcraft just because I detest Call of Duty, that doesn't make any practical sense at all.

I completed Metro: Last Light. The ending is nonexistent. It's like they ran out of development time and somebody said, "Why don't we have him just blow everything up again???" and he was awarded employee of the month, or something. It ends with zero resolution. They just cut the game short, threw together some shitty movie of a bunch of scripted destruction, and tossed in a "we're all safe because of him".

Even so, I liked it better than BioShock Infinite. They're both corridor shooters, but in Last Light I could actually help people. In BioShock you're sometimes surrounded by the poor people complaining about they're problems, but you can't do anything for them. In Last Light I could help, even if it was minor.

Can't comment as I haven't even played LL, but you do know that it was basically in limbo during the whole time people were bidding on THQ's IPs right? Technically it was due out a few months ago but it only just came out now because of that mess.

Speaking of, I hope that stupid Austrian company that bought up Darksiders doesn't botch the next one. As for Infinite's Ending... what was bad about it exactly? I thought it was just fine and it makes complete sense.

I managed to clock over 20 hours on Borderlands this weekend, so I'm inclined to say it's a good game.

While the gunplay is fairly satisfying, I think it's everything else that's really keeping me hooked. The art design is simply amazing. I love this style and want to see more games adopt it. It's like when the industry made the jump to 3D they tried to make everything look real, but now we're finally seeing some stylized games emerging and it's great. I don't want photo-realism, so this is a perfect fit for me. It's like a return to sprite art, except in 3D. This is the kind of stuff that will manage to age well while everything else from the era is suspect. One of the few complaints I do have is that the soundtrack needs to have more in the way of acoustic guitar music, because it would definitely benefit from it the same way Trigun did.

Again, really if you like BL you'll *love* BL2 as it's better in every way - it's seriously some of the best cell shading I've seen in a game, and the references are everywhere from the weapons & quests to even your own skill tree; The mechromancer Gaige has multiple MLP references XD (She and Krieg are both DLC characters though).

If/when you get around to it, you'll what I mean though when the entire cast or playable characters (save possibly Brick) of BL1 are a bunch of losers, especially Roland


Glad you're enjoying it though. My buddy and I have been going through 2's DLC packs off and on. We're current on the Booty Pirate one or w/e it's called (I think it was the first DLC?) as we just finished Torgue's expansion last time. Tiny Tina FTW!!!

I absolutely abhor it when RPG developers pull this kind of bullshit. Fucking goddamn Toko is a very rare mob to begin with, and to add to that its catch rate is TWO PERCENT!!!!
