SE loves to toy with Final Fantasy IV. Its like the most re-released game they have.

Either way, yeah, I'd love to see an FFVI remake. I could never get into the GBA version, you lose too much of the screen and I don't appreciate that in a game that still uses the old maze dungeon + random battles paradigm. Which is a damned shame since they redid the translation...

I tried getting into War of the Lions but the lag was too much of a showstopper (and I was also a bit irked they just stretched the screen instead of keeping the aspect ratio.) Someone made a patch to the PSX game with the WotL translation, I think I'll just hack it to use the correct JP costs and just play that instead. I don't really care about the extra jobs and characters; Luso is a Ramza clone, Balthier is Mustadio on steroids and the game is broken enough without adding Dark Knight and Onion Knight as playable jobs.

Those would outpace it if SE didn't release a version of FFIV on everything as well. I think its got one or two reversions ahead of FF1&2. Especially with FFIV DS factored in before the PSP version was a thing.

The PSP version is a different beast from the DS, the customization of commands from the DS version is gone, and the game plays out more like the SNES version, with 32-bit graphics, also hitting select does auto speed battle ;p

The endgame they added with the GBA version is there as well, but it seems the planned save+ feature did not make it -.-

so you have to start over when you play the interlude, and after years parts -.-

was nice to be able to change Edge out for Yang though, made last boss easier for me.

Meh, maybe I'll just hunt down a DS copy then. I liked the changes they made to classes and skills there. Felt more like it was brought up to speed with later entries with the changes they made in that version.

FE Awakening's first map pack is out. Better deal if you get the $4 Champions pack since you get to puchase the Champion's of Yore #3 map and save a dollar on it when it would otherwise be $2.50 by itself next week as a stand-alone. It still won't unlock until the following week, but still nice its an option now.

The DLC maps offer you the feature to summon "Einherjar" for completing each map. More or less these are phantoms of past FE heroes like Prince Marth and Roy

I don't think the DLC is related to the main plot; from my understanding they feature characters from other FE games. Considering Fire Emblem games are fun enough to play in their own right (unlike some RPGs which I only put up with for the plot), offering optional DLC stages on the cheap makes a lot of sense for both the players and the developers.

I picked up FFT: War of the Lions for $5, but I'm curious to know of FFIV: The Complete Collection is worth it.

I had the GBA and DS updates and then they released this a couple years back before porting the DS version to iOS, so I'm just torn on whether this is the final version or not. If the PSP version has all the gameplay from FFIV DS, I suppose that's good enough.

Seriously, though SE, move on to remaking FFV and FFVI, leave this one alone.

The only thing the PSP version doesn't have are the polygon graphics, augments and the difficulty is the same as the SNES/GBA version. The PSP version does have Interlude and The After Years though.

If you can get it for cheap I would get it. If not stick with the GBA version.

No augments... bleh. I'll skip it, I can get $5 off Jet Set Radio if I buy a DLC code from GS with a coupon I have. I guess I'll just grab that and hunt down FFIV on DS instead.

Its all gaiden content. Nothing to do with the main story. You just get more units to play with and additional weapon pick ups for completing maps. So far much of it is the 3-use glass weapons, which I just sell off to vendors to get more worthwhile weapons. Additionally, the maps are nice for training lower level characters on.

Awakening is just as robust with content as past entries of the series (if not moreso) before DLC is even a factor. The first DLC map is free, there are additional free Spotpass battles that will be introduced in the weeks to come. Between this and NSMB2's DLC, Nintendo isn't skimping on content at all.

As one reviewer put it, it's written like a 14 year old girl's fan fiction...

After Years starts off with a bang, and does get quite good (I LOVED Bands as a tactic) but once you get to the ending... it's a complete WTF. And not in a good way, like with Star Ocean 3 where you're just like "Dude, holy shit!" no this is the bad kind, the kind that makes you wonder why in the sweet tits this got approved and why whomever wrote this (and subsequently, approved it) hasn't been sacked yet.


So gameplay wise great, but ultimately passable. The remake of IV in the PSP graphics is very nice, though again I prefer the DS remake because of the superb voice acting and gameplay updates. War of the Lions is totally worth it, for the animated scenes and fixed dialogues alone.

Currently playing Ragnarok Online Post-Renewal. Just got the 2nd Job for Ninja's and I am absolutely LOVING it. Being able to do just about everything other jobs can and a little bit more is always nice. Let me see what we've derived as a class

-Dual Wield (Belonged to SinX)
-Trap Spell (Belonged to Snipers)
-HP/SP Sap/Swap (Belonged so Prof/Locks)
-Hiding (Belonged to Rogues)
-100k DD move that breaks defense. So we get the effect of a Thana Card? Yes please.
-Coma Move (Belonged to Clown/Gypsy)
-Healing (Belonged to Priest)

Yes I am enjoying this so very much. Ninja's are the best!

I'm having a different problem from the one I usually have in Fire Emblem.

I keep counterattacking and killing units I want to talk to and recruit - this rather than making a mistake that gets a unit killed. I've had to keep Chrom, Sully and Lon'qu away from the thief I want to pick up because they keep critting and killing him when he attacks them. Lon'qu especially because he's a Myrmidon and they just fuck people up.

I do. I'm proud of my Ninja. Gives me something to do instead of paying money every month for XI. Plus I am waiting on XIV and loads of other games. Still waiting on Ni No Kuni to come in, even though I put it on my list as top Gamefly didn't send me a copy the day it came out.
