I'm considering releasing something to get some feedback on what I've done so far, but that will take a while as its pretty much not even a game yet. If it ever comes to that might be released in chunks atleast at first. And thanks for offering, I'll let you know.

I'm currently wrapping up new game+ on Persona 4 Golden, and still dabbling with Dishonored.

Also discovered Jetpack Joyride. So amazing for a free game. It's like Canabalt with upgrades, vehicles and goals.

Getting my groove on in Resonance of Fate. Just discovered how to properly use all those grip/barrel adapters to add more sub-barrels to my guns and good God, my charge rate is through the roof now.

Also dabbling in Diablo 3 again. It's still not the best game ever lol, but it's gotten a lot better with all the class rebalancing Blizzard has done. I play on Hardcore of course, so that it's not just a boring, care-free roflstomp. Monster Power also spices things up nicely by greatly increasing my EXP and Treasure, but also making mobs that much more dangerous, especially on HC.

            • Re: What games are you currently playing?

Bought Assassin's Creed III Liberation off PSN for the Vita last night and I'm having fun with it so far. The controls and interface are identical to AC3, as well as a lot of mechanics, but one improvement on AC3 is that the Assassin, Aveline de Grandpré actually has a personality and is more interesting than Connor.

Basically it is set in New Orleans at the same time as ACIII so it's during the Seven Years War and Louisiana Rebellion of 1768. Aveline is the daughter of a wealthy merchant and a freed slave though a Plaçage Marriage and uses her social status as an advantage in being able to move around without people asking too many questions and also to be able to smuggle abused slaves out of New Orleans. She is mentored by a creepy black guy called Agaté who is pretty blatantly an Assassin clearly grooming Avaline as a future Assassin and is manipulating her into to joining the order. Basically you follow her story during the time period as she struggles between contracting values from both of her parents, her personal stance against slavery and the themes touched upon in ACIII regarding the hypocritic contracts in the Colonies and New France at the time with regards to freedom and enslavement.

There are two very cool features in the game: First is the Persona System. It is basically a system of different guises that you take on, each having its own unique abilities and pros and cons and each having their own notoriety level. So you can kill someone as an assassin then change into a Slave or Aristocrat outfit to keep guards off you (since they're looking for an Assassin). All three of Aveline's personas have benefits and drawbacks:

Her Lady persona lets her charm or bribe guards so she can walk right past checkpoints. It also means that as a respectable member of society, you hardly raise suspicions so you gain little notoriety for behaving suspiciously and it is VERY easy to perform assassinations with the hidden blade and the Parasol's dart gun (unless you are really blatant about it). Guards will also run to protect you regardless of alignment if your notoriety is low so you never have to worry about thugs attacking you. However the dress makes any kind of climbing impossible and also slows you down.

Her Slave persona does let her climb around, and it has a ton of unique blending options that you can only use as this persona, like pretending to work alongside other slaves. However your notoriety also rises higher for doing anything unusual, including climbing. The Slave persona is also weaker in combat, due to not being as heavily armed as her Assassin persona.

Her Assassin persona is great in combat, has no restrictions and gives you access to the ridiculously overpowered Blowpipe (and Connor's Tomohawk if you have an ACIII save on your PS3), however the main drawback is that your notoriety is always at a minimum of 1, mostly because seeing a black woman in men's clothes covered in weapons and performing parkour is too unusual to NOT investigate in 18th Century New France.

The second feature I really like about it is that the game is actually presented as a video game. Simply put, this is a video game portrayed as a video game in its own universe, so the player is treated like they are actually using the Animus. After the Ubisoft logo, it even displays "ANIMUS" and "Abstergo" as if that were the operating system and production company. Best of all, though, is Erudito hacking into your PS Vita and sending it to the boot menu so the truth can be added to your game, looking for all the world like that's EXACTLY what's happening to your system. Yes it displays the actual PS Vita Operating System Boot Menu, so at first it looks like the OS itself crashed and rebooted, but then Erudito are suddenly sening you messages through it. I personally found it a really nice touch.

I'm having fun with it. Loading times are pretty short, usually no longer than a few seconds and the control scheme works very well on the Vita. I've not tried the multiplayer mode yet but if it's anything like AC: Revelation then I'll probably have a lot of fun with that too.

Reminds me of Virtual On. The arcade machines are supposed to be remote terminals for real mechs, which the government made to search for a pilot skilled enough to avert a doomsday scenario.

Etrian Odyssey and Dragon Age Origins. I'm going to pick up Bioshock Rapture Edition next week to have something to shake things up a little and get some some action between those two RPGs until Metal Gear Rising Revengence is out. Etrian Odyssey is rather demanding with all its map-making, but despite it being a throwback it actually feels focused in light of DA:O's hideously clunky interface and menus. Still, I enjoy DA:O's story, characters and some of the combat mechanics so far, not so much the ridiculous difficulty spikes and weaksauce exploration.

I have Fire Emblem and EOIV on pre-order, but god only knows when I'd get around to EOIV, there's no way I can get all the other EO games I've put off before it gets out. Fire Emblem is looking incredibly nice. I hadn't really looked all that much into the art until recently but its very nice and has less of that doe-eyed 80's anime look to it. I'm not too keen on the idea of Casual Mode for FE, though, as it eliminates permadeath and lets you save anywhere - which kinda robs the game of a distinctive edge it had among strategy RPGs (Tactics Ogre and FFT aside, then gain FE was doing it first). Nothing I'll lose sleep over, but I hope Casual Mode at least offers less reward in light of its perks.

EOIV also has a casual mode, but it just gives you unlimited dungeon escapes and ports your dead party back to town with full life based on a previous save. I guess in that case its just skipping the step of the Game Over screen. You still have to draw maps though. I can respect Atlus on insisting that part of the experience remain because that's a big part of the aesthetic they're trying to covey anyway. I'll still play on Normal, though.

Finished Dishonored in full stealth. Not sure if I'll go after the platinum trophy, but all the really hard stuff is already done (Ghost and Clean Hands).

Still picking away at Persona 4 Golden's platinum. Just need to wrap up the secret boss and max out one more social link and I'll be done I think.

Not sure where I go from here in terms of backlog. I've got the God of War: Ascension beta but haven't fired it up yet. Also been playing some Karateka (surprisingly silly and harder than it looks), and I've got a ton of games on the back burner (Silent Hill: Book of Memories on Vita, wrapping up Crushing difficulty on Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Zone of the Enders HD, Tekken Tag 2, Assassin's Creed 3 - actually still need to finish Revelations too, Okami HD, Hitman: Absolution, Mass Effect 1 on PS3, and probably a bunch of other stuff I've forgotten about).

On tap: DmC: Devil May Cry on Jan 15, and my Wizard Edition of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch arrives Jan 22.

                        UGH FML!

So Tri-Ace pulled an absolute dick move over me, in the form of locking my save file... To anyone looking to achievement hunt on Resonance of Fate, be forewarned; Beat Neverland, the Arena, and unlock every Hex space BEFORE BEATING THE FINAL BOSS!!!! This can be done after the 2 sub-bosses along the way whom each drop 2 black hexes needed to unlock Neverland.

                        Ugh, now I have to redo all the the arena fights again (I was only missing a couple + the 5 that unlock after beating Neverland) AND I have to re-farm all my colored hexes - the latter pissing me off more than anything. Well at least this time I'm over lv 150 so the dreaded green hex farming of Ch. 5 won't be quite so horrible (I have 2 lucky charms as well). Not looking forward to the Christmas chapter either lol... that part was just annoying. Easy, but tedious. Right now I'm struggling to figure out just how the hell I'm supposed to kill things in Neverland so I can get my Golden Guns... the enemies are all ridiculously strong and have multiple layers of armor, which presents 2 problems;

                        - Even with Hawkeye & Scratch Damage Full proc, some enemies just don't want to go down in 1 pass (and they REGEN!)
                        - Since I did a NG+, I don't have access to the end-game parts or AP ammo (which are horribly expensive) nor do I have all my fancy gold arena tokens anymore. ><

Currently I have Vasheryon using the PDWX.V3 and the NP.05, Zephy uses the L-Auto and another gun I picked up (forget which atm) and Leanne has the SG + Medicine Box (though at this point it doesn't feel like it's helping much as every time I stop to fix a status ailment or cure scratch damage, the enemies are just so damn strong that I get messed up all over again and I've lost a resonance for nothing). I'm thinking I should give her the magazine case and pray for Penetration + relevant ammo (isn't there an accessory that grants 100% penetrate? thought I read that.... never found it tho and I completed every mission on my 1st run).

You could already save at any time in Radiant Dawn because the battles were so ridiculously long. Also, I find Fire Emblem's permadeath to be more of a thorn on my side than a real challenge. I'd be OK with it if the game revolved around fighting efficiently, but in practice it's about micromanaging your EXP. That almost always involves risking the lives of your weaker units for the sake of getting hits in and giving your healers something to heal.

Actually, I wouldn't have minded so much if they had just put in a soft reset in Path of Radiance.

                            YES!!! Kings of Neverland!

I got super lucky in a couple of fights with Hawk Eye & Full Scratch procs and managed to cheese my way through to the Golden Guns. From there the "Secret Boss" was a breeze since I now have all the Golden Guns & best accessories.

Just gotta pwn the Arena now, get a few other misc. achievements (knife 30 guys, rack of 20 resonance, etc.) and beat the game a 2nd time. Easy 1000/1000, just very time consuming @___@

Also really looking forward to the sequel - SEGA said they wanted to make this a new series and not just a 1-time IP.

Nearing the end of play through of the Mass Effect trilogy from start to finish. Just have to wrap up Omega DLC, then onto Leviathan DLC, then finally the last set of missions.

Omega DLC is kind of redundant, according to a lot of people. But I really appreciate how it makes me feel like I'm back in Mass Effect 2 and what I really liked about that game compared to the first and 3. Painting with broad strokes, I'd say 1 and 3 went more for white collar political BS galaxy vs 2's cyberpunk seedy underbelly galaxy. Though I suppose those differences are really just highlighting the contrast between Citadel Space and the Terminus Systems.

The latter is far more entertaining and intriguing.

                              The former is just infuriating.
