I really should have been playing Engineer all this time in Mass Effect. it has all the techs and diversionary tactics I wanted.

I prefer stealthy characters, but it just seems Engineer does a better job of it with distractions than Infiltrator did with its lolstealth. All i miss is the sniper rifles.

LOLengineers are terrible on anything except Normal difficulty in Mass Effect unless you're fighting geth or robots (which is about 5% of the time). Take a step into Insanity difficulty and see how long those "distractions" last.

ME's Insanity is really nothing to write home about. I'm not even that great a shot and Halo 4 was much harder on Heroic and Legendary than this - probably because you can't pause action to command squadmates, can't use cover in third person and are constantly forced to improvise with weapons rather than have a pre-set custom loadout, but I digress.

My drone distractions still last about as long as they did on Normal, which is fine, because I'm really just using them to get from one spot of cover to the next anyway. If it makes someone turn their back or get stunned, that works too. I'm just setting up for good headshots and landing Incinerate, Overload or Cryo.

This is on ME2's New Game+ in the late level 50s. I'm working on getting Grunt. I'm sure the collectors will be a touch tougher, I doubt by much.

Cryo? Roflcopters. Cryo Blast doesn't affect anything that matters on Insanity in ME2.

No, its totally important that we all play the "best" class on the "real" difficultly of ME. You know, because its not like its an role-playing game or anything.

I might care about the particulars for difficulty or class a bit more if ME were a competent third-person shooter. ME3 was the most competent the series ever got on the shooter stuff, but even it fell behind second-stringers like Binary Domain this year.

So far Crimson Shroud is a curious blend of text adventure, table-top RPG and JRPG. Not too surprising since its a Matsuno game, which are prone to a little more classic western influence than usual.

This is to say the scenario is pre-determined tale of lords, knights, scrappy mercenaries and the ill and downtrodden. Racism, sexism, class-envy and all that good political drama stuff is in there, too. Its very text-heavy and the presentation is stiff, but then, its stiff because our characters are tabletop figurines that wobble when they attack goblins or get frustrated in cutscenes. As the DM tells the tale you'll sometimes get choices and roll dice to execute those choices, open trapped treasure boxes and that sort of stuff. Dice rolls also become involved in the combat, though it starts out in familar JRPG combat territory.

No levelling up, either, all your stat boots and even some of your spells will be tied to gear. Unequipping or discarding a weapon entirely can mean losing spells exclusive to weapons. There are also learned spells and skills that open up as the scenario progresses.

Basiscape does the music, as usual. You have that "old man" narrative at the start, complete with weathered map in the background and its a time where magic recently didn't exist, but now is does and causes all kinds of trouble for people. And its all a flashback story, of course. It also appears that Alexander Smith - who did the English script for Vagrant Story - localized the script for this as well.

The download was rather large for a 3DS game, I always forget what how "blocks" covert to megabytes but it devoured about 1,800 blocks of my 4GB card. with 48 games on my 3DS it may be time to upgrade to a 16GB card. Its too early to say how substantial the content is based on that size alone, but I have a feeling this game will go on for a long while given how its presented. The other Guild 01 offerings were more bite-sized games.

Edit: Looked around - the "a while longer" is about five hours. Longer than Liberation Maiden, but still an interesting game so far.

I also just like weird throwbacks like this.

Edit 2: There's also a new game plus mode, which unlocks new areas, dungeons and an different ending. So there's a little time you can add to the experience.

Between Halo 4 and BF3 I don't really need PS:2 and I wasn't all that thrilled with it anyway. Can't comment on XIV Alpha.

Stupid 343, episodes 6~10 of Spartan Ops don't begin until Jan 21, 2013 and the new maps are so-so. I'm hoping the next map pack is better (and the achievements aren't as retarded).

FFXIV was good and the new ARR will be awesome. He's uninstalling FFXIV because you need to downlaod the new game, the old one is obsolete now, it just takes up space. You will love it Ray, and you can play by yourself the entire time if you'd like. I'll have all my crafting jobs to 50 and I'll help you out by making shit for you.

Also, what about about exploration? Is it more open an interactive this time around (with jumping and all) or is it about the same as it was in 1.0 and XI?

Speaking of Mass Effect, still playing through the first game. Liara's face model has changed so much between then and Shadow Broker/3. It's hard for me to even see her as the same character.

I didn't find it changed all that much.

The real shocker was the complete 180 she did personality wise. It still doesn't really sit right, even after doing LotSB & ME3.
