Done with Rondo of Blood; kicked Dracula's arse. It's funny how I already knew his patterns and such because of SotN's first stage. (Well, besides his second form's random floaty jumps. Seriously, how can you even avoid them? I just used Item Crash during it and prayed he wouldn't do it again)

I'm surprised how much I enjoyed it. Looks like my retro blood is still around, har har. I'll probably go back to 100% it later on, but for now, back to SotN!

That Major on there ... feels bad man. That was a total clusterfuck of a terror mission. Outnumbered nearly 3:1 by chyrsalids before they even start reproducing is a bad place to be. I was lucky to get half the squad back to the skyranger for evac. India said gtfo and never come back, which screws up the continent bonus I was going for, but y'know what? Screw em. They can keep their facefulls of alien wingwong.

Actually, I think I have that wrong. Operation Empty Bell was the terror mission because I remember the awesome guy I lost was a support trooper and Mr Clean was support. Crimson Giant must have been the one where I, appropriately enough, got my face kicked in by mutons for the first time.

I'm only a couple of game-months into the game on Normal so I haven't had any fatalities outside of the tutorial. Figured I'd get my feet wet and learn the basics before taking on the higher difficulties, but even on Normal the game is pretty unforgiving of tactical errors. Had a couple of really close shaves with guys gravely wounded, and had to reload a couple of times to capture my first Sectoid. Now they're asking me to capture one of the scary energy form guys, and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to manage that without getting someone killed.

Still working on Resident Evil 6. I wish they would give you extra character skins for having RE 5 Data, but that isn't the case. Unless people who pre-ordered get something special? Not sure what they get though.

If it was for the PSP I wouldn't be considering getting a Vita for all these Falcom games being released.

So what's the verdict on Dishonored? I'm really pissed that I can't rent games anymore, but I can't go about buying crap either - I've got 1 major purchase (Halo 4) possibly 2 (AC3) coming up, and that's it (unless my brother wants to split on Black Ops 2)


I really want to play the game, but a buddy of mine who's playing it now says it's a good weekend rental and that's it.

If you liked Bioshock, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Metroid Prime you'll enjoy Dishonored. Its got the best stuff of each there and how you play affects the city of Dunwall - stealth and non-lethal or go in guns blazing and kill 'em all. This affects the experience.

Uh, we totally can. Some of the people that made System Shock spread into new studios, some made DX and some made Bioshock. Some of those same people broke off those studios and joined Akane Studios, who made Dishonored. Some of these guys are like drinking buddies. That's why the comparisons are noteworthy. These people seem to work in the same circles.

Can't say the same for Warren Spector now, but then, I can't complain since he helped make Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion happen. The original Epic Mickey was OK.

I take it you meant putting DX near Bioshock was to besmirch Bioshock in some way. I don't see it. They're both good franchises with a shared lineage.

I hated DX. It was either Sneak or Gun. Never in between. It ruined the game for me.

Oh, X-Com, as if Classic mode weren't ridiculous enough, there's a trophy/achievement for rescuing a hostage in 5 turns on Classic or Impossible difficulty. Very, very tricky. I've spent over an hour reloading the first rescue mission (before carnivals of stupid happen with enemies) and even here it's almost impossible because every enemy that takes a potshot at you seems more likely than not to score a critical hit and instant KO your troops if they're not hunkered down.

Mostly playing FFXI, however now that it has finally arrived, I'm going to start playing Deadly Premonition. Why this game never came out in Australia, I'll never know.

Whistle Theme is going to be in my head for the rest of my life.
