I got Dawnguard last night and downloaded it.

And in about hour and a half I will start playing Skyrim again. So... if you don't hear from me in a while it's because I'm either having too much fun or I'm already dead in some gods forsaken dungeon.

So I beat ME2, and before I go into a rant about that (because shit happened that really pissed me off, good thing that 1st playthrough was essentially a dry run - albeit a very thorough one) I just want to say I'm now torn between Garrus and Legion as my 2 favorite characters... Legion adds a whole new dimension to the universe and explained a lot of cool stuff, even confirmed several suspicions of mine. Now, on to the rant...

ME2 Ending Spoilers/Rant

WTF was that!? That damn thing looked like the T1000... Was cool getting to play as joker though. I just have one major, absolutely huge complaint and that's I lost Tali and Zaeed. Give me a FUCKING BREAK EA! Apparently Zaeed, a military veteran of 20+ years and co-founder of the Blue Sons, isn't qualified as a fire team leader and as such that got Tali and then afterwards him killed. That is a complete load of shit. I'm tempted to pickup the Kasumi DLC and possibly lair of the shadow broker for extra stuff, and because Liara is my love interest on my paragon soldier file - are they worth it?

Last Story comes out soon, still waiting for that, also fixated on finishing the starting area for my mini Minecraft Tekkit Server for my friends, but after I am done with that it will be back to Metro 2033 for me, and then Roan's Curse 2 for the Gameboy ^.^

So again, as far as ME2 DLC goes, from what I'm reading, Lair of the Shadow Broker, Kasumi & Arrival are worth getting, overlord is "meh" - Arrival actually has consequences for ME3 as well if you don't get it which is lame...

Eh idk about that.

Overlord strikes me as mostly fluff. I REALLY don't care for the hammerhead, it's basically a flying roflcart... Fucking 800 points for shadowbroker too, ugh... I really do like ME's storytelling though. Speaking as someone who almost never touches western RPGs, this series has really impressed me and despite the sharp criticism over 3, I'm looking forward to that too. Still, I like to know I'm getting my money's worth.

It peeves me a bit that the PS3 version gives you everything EXCEPT the shadowbroker DLC for free, + the enhanced pre-ME3 engine but I didn't want to miss out on the original game, even with ME: Genesis being bundled with the PS3 version. Besides I don't have the HDD space on my PS3 anyway. Hell, my 360 HHD is nearly full now as well so I gotta start clearing out stuff...

Most of the DLC doesn't affect anything in ME3 save for slight dialog changes, emails and news broadcast babble. None of them really impact the story in a meaningful way. Shadow Broker is the only one worth playing.

Kasumi's DLC is OK for the character, but mission is like a bad version of Oceans Eleven. Even GTA: San Andreas did a better heist story.

Actually I checked for carry overs of ME2 to ME3 and if you DON'T do Arrival, you lose quite a large War Asset. The plot's supposed to be pretty decent as well, though it's a solo mission for Shepard.

Sadly, with Kasumi she's just like Zaeed - apparently once she's shipside she clams up and there's little interaction with her. Doesn't offer any dialogue choices and thus no unique upgrades just like Zaeed. I really hated that, because the moment I met him on Omega I was drawn to the guy.

- British Accent, check.
- Complete badass, check.
- Renegade, check
- Interesting personality, check.
- Interesting backstory & lots of things to tell you about, check.

Too bad Bioware half-assed any interactions with him outside of some snappy remarks during mission scenes. At least his Loyalty mission held true to his personality (and is particularly brutal if you take the Renegade path... yeesh!)

War Assets are a joke and very easy to obtain within making the right choices in the three main games. War Assets are numbers and only numbers. You get between 4 and 5k and do some multiplayer and you'll exceed the minimum requirement for the best endings. You might not even need the multiplayer to get there.

Most Bioware DLC is a huge waste of money, Lair of the Shadow Broker has been the only exception to this in their history of doing it.

You're better off going with Dak's suggestion and getting Walking Dead episodes instead. They're more substantial and the choices made there actually links from chapter to chapter. ME DLC cops out on choice regularly because its DLC and not main game content.

You no longer need multiplayer in ME3 if you download the Extended Cut, as the EC drastically lowers the amount of War Assets you need for each optimal ending to something reasonable like 3500 or so (not sure of the exact amount but people were reporting it being significantly lower when the DLC was released and I'm too lazy and indifferent to go research it).

As for ME2 DLC, agree with above posts: Lair of the Shadow Broker is worth your time. Above and beyond the great storyline setup, it also offers actually useful perks in-game in the form of more resources and the ability to respec your team. The rest... not really. Get them if you have nothing else to do with your time AND money to burn AND insist on unlocking every single thing in ME3.

If they were more reasonable with their prices I would love to get the rest of it as I really love the ME universe as a whole. I lucked out with the 1st game in that since I got the plat hits edition (which I also got for ME2 though nothing extra was added this time... assholes) it came with Bring Down the Sky. I thought it said on the Wiki that the ME2 cast all show up in 3 at various points as well? (though none of them can join you, and in some cases you even fight them depending on your decisions heh...)

I can't understand why Kasumi is 560 points for so little content... and that too, bugs me - why 560?! No, let's NOT put it in a denomination you can buy (500/1000/2000 etc) oh no, gotta make it more than the minimum but less than the max and give you a weird # of points back...

I really hate this shit. Would it kill EA to put out a DLC bundle pack for the game?

Not ALL of their branches are evil, money-grubbing asshats. I'm just amazed they didn't do a GotY edition for ME2 - they did one for Dragon Age 2, which bombed so wtf? Then there's BF3 premium which is an amazing deal as well...

But love for the Mass Effect series? I think for now I'll just buy Lair of the Shadowbroker (so I can continue my romance with Liara and because it's the best of the 4 DLC) and then wait and see what happens with the rest. I'd really like to get Kasumi, as her mission is supposed to be good and she's also a good squadmate (her loyalty power is ridiculous too at rank 4) but @ 560 points... no. Just no.

So I have a new hatred in ME2, in the form of roflscanning...

I'm not sure which is more annoying, the old roflcart or damned planet scanning. Not a big fan of how much they gimped biotics either.

If you hated the Mako then don't even touch Operation Firewalker. In that you get a hovertank which handles as well as a Ghost on a greased up hockey rink.

They broke Biotics again in ME3 too. Power cooldowns depend on the weight of gear you carry and fully upgraded the starting rifle is as light as a pistol.

For that reason Vanguards and Adepts are ridiculously powerful in multiplayer to the point where pretty much all of the gold difficulty missions are 1-3 Adepts/Vanguards and an Infiltrator or Engineer.

Vanguard = Equip only the starting rifle with weight reduction mods. Spam Biotic Charge and Nova ad nauseum. Only an unlucky grenade can really harm you since if a capped Nova hits someone, it will completely refill your biotic barrier.
Adept = Equip a pistol and spam biotics everywhere.
Asari Asept (MP onry) = lolSingularity.
