Ad revenue. Sony gets tons of it from Crackle as is. Crackle interrupts free streaming movies for ads on a timer. Granted its free, but there's still no option to get around it.

For all the complaining about ads on 360's dashboard, those ads don't interrupt anything and actually allow MS to cut deals on live subscriptions. I'm not totally against ads so long as they stay mostly out of the way - I totally understand the benefits of ad revenue - but the concept behind this patent however is incredibly invasive considering it interrupts something I may have purchased to play and some games just cannot be interrupted in that way.

If Sony can't pass more value on to the consumer with stuff like this being implemented and can't keep it from being invasive, there's no point to doing it.

I am still playing Tekken x Street fighter. I know alot of people dislike it becuase of the glitches. But over all it is a really good game.

Mighty Switch Force for 3DS got a nice update last night, they added new levels for free and improved the 3D effect quite considerably. Can't wait to see what WayForward brings to 3DS next!

Playing Sorcery on PS3 the last couple of days.

This game is pretty difficult for a E10+ game. Not Ninja Gaiden hard, but there are definitely some controller-throw-worthy moments here and there, none of which (surprisingly) are due to the motion controls, which actually work really well. Every boss battle has a functional strategy, it's just a matter of figuring it out, but until you do, you die over and over, even on Easy.

Overall, the game is a lot better than I was expecting. A killer app it's not, but it has quite possibly the best motion controls in any game I've ever played (better than Skyward Sword, Dance Central, or Child of Eden). If Sony had actually done something more imaginative with these controls, they'd be onto something really great.

Who knows if it will be implemented but the fact they're considering it isn't a very good sign.

........I think my plan of collecting all the old stuff is starting sounding more and more sane ;p

I finished Sorcery two nights ago and started playing Dragon's Dogma yesterday. Man, this game is flawed but it is so much fun.

It might actually be a better game than Skyrim, despite its many flaws. The combat is way more interesting, and having an almost fully customizable party is awesome.

Bouncing between SMT Nocturne and Fallout 3 right now. Taking the tours of Tokyo and Washington DC.

I have to say the post-apocalypse is an improvement for DC, I've never been to Tokyo so i can't say much about its world being turned inside out and filled with demons. You get a few landmarks and then a bunch of mazes. Mostly mazes, sometimes dark ones, sometimes with damage panels.

Also playing SMT Strange Journey on my DS, so its a recurring theme of the world has gone to hell on just about anything I play right now. I think I'm going to round it out with Fallout New Vegas UE and maybe upgrade to the GOTY version of FO3.

Started on hardcore mode with a barbarian.

Decided I may as well gear for STR and Gold Find as thank f'ing god, there is a separate ah for HC as well. Given how stupidly risky it is, to hell with running magic find - just frag easy mobs for loads of gold and buy everything i need off the AH. Speaking of which, be nice if Blizzard could hurry the hell up and restore the commodities section as I am in bad need of high quality gems.


EDIT: I feel this is relevant for a lot of us lately (well, myself anyway)

Shit, now I'm not so sure about the ZoE collection. God help them if they fuck that up as well.

I'm sure Bluepoint is on it and it will be mostly fine. The problem is similar to MGS Collection - particularly where MGS2 and MGS3 are concerned - that many of the fancier cutscenes in ZOE2 are actually intended to be presented in 20 FPS to emphasize slow-mo or 360 camera rotations and there's just no way in hell you can speed it up to 60 FPS and keep it looking good. It was a flaw in MGS collection and ZOE2 uses the same engine. the Vita version of MGS HD is likely to have the same issues. MGS Snake Eater 3D was essentially a reskinned version of MGS3. They improved the polycounts on some models but it ultimately was a game designed for PS2 being forced to run on something else and that mostly came through on scenes with characters like The Pain where all bees were flying about. That aside, its actually more consistent with the PS2 version than the HD versions are The majority of the cutscenes are just as they were before.

People knock in it, however, because they seriously believe 60 FPS and 720p makes everything better. No one wants to admit that MGS HD collection has flaws, but Bluepoint did the best they could. Hopefully this generation publishers and developers made sure to take notes and keep records so in the event of a console game getting remade it wouldn't be so difficult.

I wouldn't write off ZOE collection entirely, just don't expect the cutscenes to be all that smooth because it was a standard definition game and those scenes were intended to run at lower framerates.
